I am in the market for second opinions/more up to date treatement options than is currently being offered through my local rural setting. I actually traveled to City of Hope for the davinci robotic surgery, and now am in need of consultation and treatment for round 2.
I have been in contact with Cancer Instatutes of America. (I believe that is the correct name, I don't have their info in front of me.) Does anyone have any personal experience with this facility, specifically the Pheoniz AZ. clinic. I ask that due to that was where It was suggested I would be referred by whoever answered their toll free number. Contrary to what my local oncologist has suggested, they thought an aggressive treatment program was probably called for. Not particularly any drastic radiation, hormone or other such invasive technique, but steps needed to be initiated.
The desire to at least do something makes me feel more comfortable than taking the wait and see approach being advocated by my local oncologist.
Diagnosed with PC in 2006 @ age 48
Robotic surgery in City of Hope on Presidents day 2007
PSA never went to "0", always about 0.2
Fall 2008 PSA 0.5
Retested 3 months later, PSA 0.7
Urologist was very unsuportive of my treatment choice so I have not been back
Oncologist believes I should take a wait and see approach, But is ordering baseline bone scan.
I am very concerned!
