I am creating a new thread for Insteele, who posted the below on another thread. Hopefully a few of our veterans can chime in and offer some advice.

TC. I am a new member of HW. I have had PC, was diagnosed in 2006 with PSA of 4.57, Gleason 3+3=4, cancer in left lobe. Selected Proton Beam Radiation, results 22 months after treatment 0.59. ED problems prior to treatment. Have tried Viagra, Cialis. Virtually no benefit now. Wondering about vacuum therapy? Would appreciate views of other survivors.

Welcome to Healigweel. I've been using the Vacuum on a daily bases for about 3 weeks. I had a non-nerve sparing surgery so ED medications will not help me. After the 3 weeks I was able to get an erection with the pump but it is not very hard. I started using a smaller ring (2 of them) instead of one and that works for a very short period so you have to be ready to go. The pump is useful in that it keeps blood flowing into your penis so it doesn't shrink away.

Hey Lee welcome to the club-you-don't-really-want-to-be-a-member-of-but-here-you-are. Like Ed says, the pump can do something for you, not the least of which is seeing Old Glory once again standing tall. But it is not ideal as Ed also said -- full hardness does not last long (even with a couple of fairly restrictive rings) although a semi will stick around for a while. I would think one would have to be a Minuteman (before treatment) to actual orgasm quick enough using a pumped and ringed penis. Usually I have to manually achieve orgasm. I've been pumping for five weeks or so. These days I can get pumped and ready in about a minute unlike 5 or 10 mins when I started. So keep at it and don't despair. You can always go for the shots someday as I am sure other's can recommend.
Also I Am using an Encore w/battery powered pump -- I like it and have no issues with reliability so far. It is kind of a LOUD motor so if you still have adult children hanging around that could be embarrassing for them to hear -- and fun for you to cause them no end of embarrassment!! - hah hah hah.
