Have any of you experienced upper abdomem discomfort after your surgery.  I am now three months post-ops.  Everything thing seems to be healed well, comfirmed by a cystoscope.  But around and above the navel I have chromic lovwer level pain.  By late in the day, the area is firm and sore to the touch.  Seems to get better over night, and then starts again.  Doctor can not explain it and ordered a IVP xray to look for kidney stones.  Awaiting results from that.  Any words of wisdom?

Is it a well defined area? I had a hernia right above my navel...It pouched out about half the size of a golf ball. One little bump and man oh man did it hurt.

Thanks, Steve. No, it is more across the stomach above the navel, reaching to the sterum by late in the evening. And no pouches or outward signs of a hernia.

Greetings, Charlie.  I had the open surgery and didn't have anything like that. Do you think it is because of the robotic entry points?  Don't really know much about the robotic surgery so don't know what the possibilities are.  David

Charlie,
My recovery was very much like that, almost was convinced my surgery went bad. It has been 5 weeks now and I have had one or two good days. Riding in my pickup doesnt help, but regardless late in the day the pain sets in. Advil helps but I think that I am turning the corner on this problem. Walking helped also and avoiding lifting objects and not going for long, 90 minute, trips in my truck. Hope it passes soon. Yesterday was a good day and Sunday I was able to jump in a cold mountain lake for my first "swim" with great anxiety. Hope to be yelling "Baby I am back" soon.

It is a process and I just move on to the next step, but  the worse appears to be behind me.
