Just got home from the hospital following the installation of the AdVance sling. Insision is sore, but the real pain is in my thighs. Not sure if being in the stirrups too long has stretched the muscles or what. Anyone else experience this?

Hope the pain eases up for you there, dawg, hope they gave you some meds for that.

I just had the Advance sling put in on the 17th and have experienced the same discomfort you are describing dawgfan. I am concerned because I am reading that some people have been dry after the catheter was removed but for me I have lost control of myself. I was a 1 - 2 pad a day person and now I leak continuously. I am very sore from the surgery and can not really use my kegal muscles. After only 1 day of removing the catheter I am really worried I made a mistake. How is your continence?

Slingman,

I seem to be dry, but the pain of my left outside hip is so outstanding at times that I lost track of the continence issue. It seems that the drips have stopped. The flow is very slow when I stand over the toilet. I suspect everything will cooperate as time goes by. Is your soreness at the incision site or elsewhere?

It seems like my left leg was put in a position that pulled something. I could hardly get up from the bowl because I feel some kind of pull in my thigh. I am so frustrated because I have little or no control over my leaking now. I hope I did not make it worst. It was a minor issue 3 days ago, now I feel like I did right after the Prostate surgery.

We need time to heal. Time is our best friend right now. Things should improve, so let's not get too discouraged. I called the surgeon's office this am to ask about the pain and was told to take Aleve and try to walk some. Right now, I'm parked in a recliner watching the open.

I like your attitude, and walking has seemed to help my leg pains. My Cancer numbers were similar to yours except my PSA was 1.6. I was also 48 when I had my surgery. I only tried this sling procedure to try and improve the spontaneity of my sex life with the wife. I had no lasting effects on my ability to maintain an erection but having to clean up every time before sex sought of ruined the moment. I will try and keep a good attitude but using pad after pad seems like I took a big step backwards.

Leakage during sex was a major reason for Slinging. I only used a pad a day, but am hopefull that things will improve now. How far have you tried to walk?

I just came back from the grocery store and walked quite a bit. It is difficult to get up and down but once I get up walking is not really an issue. I just talked to the nurse and she said things might get worse before they get better with respect to the leakage. The good news is can't get any worst than it is now. I leaked pretty bad right after the Prostate surgery and it got better so I hope this will also. You can't walk at all?

I can walk, but haven't left the house yet. It's really sore to get up/down or have the left leg move sideways. I'll go down the block later and report back.

Slingman,

How's it going? I'm a little better. Hope you are progressing well.

Hi Guy's

I have been trying to find doctors that do this procedure in my area. May I ask where you both are from?

Good luck with both of your recoveries.

I'm from Huntsville, Alabama and my surgeon was in Birmingham. I think there are only a handful of surgeons doing this nationwide. I can provide more details if necessary.
