Hello,

I had a quick question about Penile Implant for you guys. Let me give a quick history of myself.

I'm 25 years old, and I got into a really bad car accident almost 3 years ago. After dealing with the multiple problems I had (stricture, bladder problems, etc.,) I recently got an implant to resolve the ED. Its been almost 3 years because I literally tried every other solution (only one working for me being injection which was unsatisfactory). It's been about two weeks since I got the AMS 700 LGX. I have an appointment on August 3rd for my six week appointment where the doctor shows me how to activate it. My surgery was done by Dr. Milam from Vanderbilt.

My question: Since the surgery my penis has been in a quasi-erect state. I remember asking my doctor about it when I had a post-op visit from the doctor but I don't quite remember what he said because I was so hopped up on Morphine (I believe he said something about it being normal and making it easier to place my penis against my abdomen which is what I should be doing for six weeks). Anyway, I'm just getting nervous, and I was hoping to get some comments from people who have been through a similar experience.

I understand that my situation differs from you guys and I am in no way attempting to say my situation is equivalent to prostrate cancer, but this specific situation (implant) is similar and I was hoping to get some feedback. Thanks you guys.

thanks steve.

The doctor should be contacting me in the next day or two. This was really for the peace of mind of hearing experiences from people who have also gone through penile implant surgery, especially with the AMS 700 LGX. Hopefully some people will chime in.

Thanks again.

so the doctor miraculously called me later today. He said that some of the fluid were put in the cylinders to make it easier for me to put it up against the abdomen and activating it on the upcoming appointment will remove all the fluid. cool. crisis averted. while the thread is around, anyone have any questions about penile implants that I can answer? about Pre-op and post-op as I cant attest to the efficacy, quite yet :)

jayjay,

I had my PCa surgery done at Vanderbilt and I am now considering implants to be done by Dr. Milam. How did you find Dr. Milam as a concerned surgeon? My experience with Vandebilt has been great but that has all been with Dr. Smith and his staff. I have been told Dr. Milam has extensive experience with implants.

JayJay,

I received a penile implant & AUS last July.  I understand some surgeons do leave a little fluid in the implant after surgery.  Mine did not, but I thought he did because the penis now hangs larger when it is flacid due to the cylinders being implanted.  I didn't like that at first but now I'm used to it.  The good thing is it never retracts.  It's always there to easily find. I have several posts on this forum regarding the implant, but they're gone way down on the list by now.  You could probably do a search.  There is also a Yahoo group dedicated the implants and also a blog.  Both addresss are somewhere on those post I made.  Sorry that you need such a device, but it should serve you well.

Hey JayJay...
Welcome to the group. It is common (but not exclusive) to have some fluid in the new implant - so I am glad that you were able to get the question resolved. JWP on the yahoo penile implant group had Dr. Milam as his implant doc after an erlier botched implant attempt by another Uro. - he was very happy with the outcome. Hope all goes well - just take your time and soon you will be enjoying your new equipment.
All the best
