Hello Hopeful,

I have just completed one year on lupron. At the one year follow up the urologist commented that I should expect to be on the lupron for another two years. That was a change from a year ago when he recommended a two year regimine. I believe there has been some additional research that indicates a third year for advanced or high risk cases.

Hope that all goes well for you.

Don

uh oh. I know my father won't go for an additional year. He is so happy about being close to finishing his 2 year on Lupron. He has an appointment this week for another shot, so I will be curious to hear if the doctor mentions anything.

Dale- When was your last Lupron shot? Have the side effects started to disappear yet? Hope you are doing well!!

Thanks to Dale, Don, and Doting Daughter.

Doting Daughter, maybe your father can convince his doc that the additional year is not necessary.  For myself, I will probably do the three years if needed.  The hot flashes are pretty bothersome, but I hope to become more accustomed to them (have only had one shot - 8 more to go turn ) .  I will be 70 next b-day - hope to be around for grand kids, etc. until at least 85.  I think that each case is different and doctors have their favorite treatments / protocols.  Good luck to you and your father, whatever he and his doc decide.
