Hi all,

I'm about 6 weeks post surgery and making decent progress on the incontinence front.  Where I'm not seeing much progress is in regards to ED.  Since my catheter removal, I've used a VED and Cialis (5 mg) for theraputic reasons.  I haven't been real happy with the VED (still practicing though) for IC and have therefore been trying full strength doses of Cialis (20mg), Levitra (20mg) and Viagara (100mg).  While I do see increased engorgement with the ED meds, I can't achieve anything capable of penetration yet.

More specifically, I can achieve a soft,  semi-erection of about 75 degrees (if I were to measure from a standing position).   Pre-surgery I was probably at about 160-175 degrees and fully hard.

My question is, what should my (and my wife's) expectations be in regards to the next 6-12 months?  Will I see undetectable gradual progress?  Or might I wake up one day with a major improvement?  Also, for those who saw improvement, did it occur in the first six months, second six, second year?  Maybe I'm being unrealistic but my goal is useable erections via ED meds only.

I know that my impatience is showing here, but I'm trying to garner more realistic expectations via other's experiences.

Thanks in advance!

ED is both strange and frustrating. With some guys it is just like old times the minute the catheter comes out while others “limp” along for years. On another thread I report my 3 month visit with my uro. He said that the most I should expect from drugs just now is some non-usable stiffening. Over the next three months he expected that I would develop some natural stiffening and that at some point the drugs would be enough to push that over to a usable erection.

I am considerably older than you, but I would take your response to drugs at six weeks as a very good sign that the connections are there and strengthening. I don’t think anyone can predict how long you will have to wait – again, some guys wake up one morning and ED is over while others chart slow progress over weeks and months. My wild guess is that you will be ready for the Halloween Orgy with time to spare.
Age at diagnosis 66, PSA 5.5
Biopsy 12/08 12 cores, 8 positive
Gleason 3+4=7
CAT scan, Bone scan 1/09 both negative.

Pathology: Lymph nodes & Seminal vesicles negative

6 weeks: 1 pad/day, 1 pad/night -- mostly dry at night.
10 weeks: no pad at night -- slight leakage day/1 pad.

The ED pills did next to nothing for me except give me real nasty headaches.

Tri-Mix, the injection medication, WORKS LIKE A CHARM for me.
