Tim, congrats on your anniversary, enjoy it anyhow, and the best way you can. Can't help you on the ED question, but you should slowly start to see improvements on the incontinence part, though you only had your surgery a little over a month ago. Don't give up hope there, it usually changes to dry slowly before you eyes, a little at a time. Good luck and enjoy this evening.

I have read literature pro and con about penile rehabilitation. The following review is written by and for urologists and so is not an easy read, but it does cite most of the literature that I have found.

Should penile rehabilitation become the norm following radical prostatectomy?

www.cua.org/CUAJ-JAUC/Vol3-no1/13-pointcounter-brock-feb-09.pdf

Perhaps most amazing is the final conclusion
"if I had a prostatectomy today, I have
no doubt that I would be starting my penile rehabilitation
protocol tomorrow."
Age at diagnosis 66, PSA 5.5
Biopsy 12/08 12 cores, 8 positive
Gleason 3+4=7
CAT scan, Bone scan 1/09 both negative.

Robotic surgery 03/03/09 Catheter Out 03/08/09
Pathology: Lymph nodes & Seminal vesicles negative
Margins positive, Capsular penetration extensive Gleason 4+3=7
6 weeks: 1 pad/day, 1 pad/night -- mostly dry at night.
10 weeks: no pad at night -- slight leakage day/1 pad.
3 mo. PSA 0.0

 hey Timmy

From what I've heard, read, and experienced-the sooner the better......as you can see in my  signature below my Doc started me the day after the cath came out, Day 11.....remember though the rehab is not so much to see if you can get it up(if you can good for ya') but to keep that blood flowing.....we all react differently to all these procedures on this wild and wacky road we're all walking...good luck

My surgeon started me on rehab the night before my surgery. Who will ever know if made any difference for me, but as you can see in my profile it didn't hurt! I looked long and hard for the best surgeon I could find. He is renowned here in Germany, has researched and published on the issue and was convinced as a result of this work that penile rehab has to start ASAP. Of course, it is not intended to have you back in the game with your catheter still in, but the articles he showed me indicated that getting the blood flowing again makes a difference in mid and long-term recovery of function. You don't have to tackle one problem and then the next - rehab can be done parallel with continence training without getting in the way of it. Whatever the different opinions on it, no one says it does any harm. And ADC takes away the cost problem, so why not??????

Biopsy: nothing found in 2006, 3 May 2007 3 of 24 cores positive, Gleason 3+3 or 3+4 depending on pathologist
RPE in Munich, Germany on 22 June 2007

First post-surgery PSA 31 July 2007: 0.01 Confirmed every 3 months since. Fully continent immediately after removal of catheter on Day 8.
No potency issues but still taking small doses of generic Levitra "as required" as my security blanket.
