I believe it was in this group that I saw comment (several references) to a particular da Vinci surgeon in Vancouver Canada who was well regarded.

I was speaking to a Vancouver friend, recently Dx'd as a member of our elite club, and told him I'd get him the name.  However, best I can search I can't come across this tread(s).  Perhaps it was just a figment of my imagination.  However, if anyone knows the name of this surgeon with the great da Vinci reputation it would be most appreciated.

Hi Sheldon,

I live in that part of the world (Vancouver, B.C.) and had my open RRP late in 2006. At that time I requested the da Vinci procedure, but was told that it was not available in this area and if I insisted on that type of operation, I would have to go out of Province (I believe Alberta and/or Ontario was mentioned).

Hi Sheldon,

My Robotic surgery was performed at the St. Joseph Healthcare Centre in London Ontario by Dr. Stephen Pautler in September of this year. He has performed over 250 robotic surgeries and prior to that he did laparoscopic and open prostatectomys. He is also a prostate oncologist. My experience with him was excellent.

Hope that helps,
Regards,
Bill

Thanks for the input. Much appreciated Bill, Magaboo.

In looking through some notes I see I have the name of Larry Goldenberg down next to the Vancouver General Hospital Prostate Center. I wonder if this is the guy? Does that name ring any bells with anyone here?

Many thanks,

Sheldon AKA Sleepless

Sheldon,

The link does not appear to work, but if you google:

Larry Goldenberg Vancouver General Hospital Prostate Center

It takes you to a page about him.
