56, PSA of 5.02. DRE last week and Dr. declared no enlargement and felt "perfect". Still.. going for biopsy the 14th which I look forward to like having a triple root canal.. Anyways, ( and my wife swears this is what is going on with me).. I went from getting up once a night a month ago to now every hour or two at night....also feeling lousy. 2 weeks ago I finished 3 weeks of antibiotics for lyme disease. and I did have alot of textbook symptoms like muscle aches, brain fog etc.. Anyone ? The wife says Lyme causes all this inflamation..

I did a Medline search and found nothing with both Lyme disease and PSA, so if there is a connection it seems not to be in the medical literature. Three weeks of antibiotics should also have taken care of any prostate infection. So, given a high PSA and no apparent reason it sounds like a biopsy is a reasonable diagnostic option. Not a medical opinion, but this is a place that leans more towards safe than sorry.

On the sorry side, we are sorry that you have to be here at all.
Age at diagnosis 66, PSA 5.5
Biopsy 12/08 12 cores, 8 positive
Gleason 3+4=7
CAT scan, Bone scan 1/09 both negative.

Robotic surgery 03/03/09 Catheter Out 03/08/09
Pathology: Lymph nodes & Seminal vesicles negative
Margins positive, Capsular penetration extensive Gleason 4+3=7
6 weeks: 1 pad/day, 1 pad/night -- mostly dry at night.
10 weeks: no pad at night -- slight leakage day/1 pad.
3 mo. PSA 0.0 - now light pads
6 mo. PSA 0.00 -- 1 light pad/day

Hey Chip off the old block,
Are you being checked by a Uro? I don't mean to scare you but my GP thought mine felt fine too. It was the Uro who identified the blob.
I had no symptoms from PCa . Everything worked fine. Let's hope it is the Lyme disease that did it to you. Darn deer.

Thanks men,

I did see a very reputable urologist and he advised me to go through biospsy.. What befuddles me is how quickly i went from getting up once a night to use the toilet a month ago to getting up every hour or so now.. It just seems not to make sense?

Good evening and thanks for sharing your experience thus far. I to use to get up several times per night however once I started taking an over the counter sleep med I did not get up as much. I was waking up going to the restroom but I did not need to as bad as I felt like I did. Anyway I pray you do not have cancer and that there is a simple solution to the problem. I do agree however that a biopsy is in order.
Let us know how you do

peace and love
Dale
