Just a quick update from my post earlier this week.

I indicated that I had been lurking on this site for a couple of months and finally decided to tell my story.

I was quite overwhelmed with the reponses.  Thanks to everyone who replied.

To any other lurkers:  identifying yourself and telling your story and reading about others with whom you will feel that you can easily bond is very rewarding.

I haven`t set up my signature yet so to summarise briefly:

Had open prostatecomy on Oct 23 09 with Gleason 6 - 2 out 12 cores positive -- 1 at 5% and 1 at 25%.  Post op pathology has indicated no problem of any type.  First followup PSA to be done third week of Jan 09.

Still learning that one can move ahead in the incontinence area and then back.

Well what happened was that a friend had bought tickets to Handel`s Messiah at the cathedral for yesterday evening.  My first post surgery concert!!

Of course my friend knows about my situation and she got tickets four rows from the front but off to the side a bit so I could be close to the washroom.

I told her a couple of days ago I am just fine now in that department seven weeks post surgery -- never ever leaking while sitting and just a bit when standing.  I assured her that I could manage the Hallelujah Chorus quite nicely.

Did I say in an earlier post that I am a worry wart.  Well mid morning yesterday a little seed was planted in my mind.  What if I started to leak during the performance.

By mid afternoon when I was sitting in my chair (sitting not standing!!), I felt a dribble.  Then another and another ...

I have never dribbled sitting down -- not since my first day after the catheter was taken out.

Well Christmas for me is not Christmas with Handel`s Messiah so I was determined to go and go I did.

God must have been on my side or maybe it was the hard pews because my new pad which I put in just before I left was only damp after the performance was over.

However, I must say I cannot remember in a long time being so happy to have an intermission arrive!!  And having been someone who never ever had to use a washroom at any intermission for anything, boy there sure are a lot of men lined up to use the facilities.  I was so glad my seat was near the front and I got there first.

By the way, today as I type this (sitting) I am just fine.

Now I know what stress incontinence is!!

The performance by the way was excellent!!

The journey continues.  Have a good day!!

Patience is a must with this disease. You're doing very well and seam to be closed to being completely dry already. The ED problem can be a bit more challenging for a lot of us, but most guys seam to find a solution to fit their particular situation. I'm sure that you will be fine in due time. Glad to hear that you enjoyed the concert and thanks for the report.
Hoping for a quick and complete recovery for you.
