Hey folks, one of my customers is a chiropractor who shares a office with a nutritionist who has done alot of work with cancer. He tells me he has seen some very encouraging things from some of these cases when this guy works up a diet and supplement program for people. He has done a number of pc sufferers and my cust tells me most are seeing excellent psa numbers and many are on active sur. instead of jumping in on treatment. I`m a skeptic by nature and just kind of smiled and nodded and thanked him for the info. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks Tim

By all means look into it,

Its already well know that foods such as ground flax seeds can do amazing things for ones colon and reduction of cholesterol

Walnuts reduce blood pressure

etc

Its not unrealistic to think that eating the correct foods can lead us to a healthier life

My daughter is a doctor of oriental medicine (accupuncture and herbs)  she believes very strongly that she can make people much healthier, however she says that no herbs or natural treatments have been proven to stop cancer. She said that there are many anecdotal stories of cures and improvement, but there has not been any conclusive evidence that the natural treatment was the reason for the improvement.

Her advice is to eat healthy, use herbs and get accupuncture treatment where it has shown to help.  She said that herbs and accupuncture during active surveillance can promote good health and probably improve mental attitude.  However anyone who claims a cancer cure with herbs or nutrients should be considered suspect.
PSA up to 4.7 July 2006 , nodule noted during DRE
Biopsy 10/16/06 ,stageT2A

My suggestion is to eat a heart healthy diet. You will find tons of information on it. Vitamin D3 is the only supplement I take and that was prescribed because I was on hormone therapy.

You are more likely to die with prostate cancer than from it. That stated you should address the other things first. Particularly your heart. Low animal fat, high veggies, and here's a big one ~ moderation. And don't forget to exercise.

And I would be leery of a chiropractor who shares office space, and likely business, with a nutritionist, and who gives out dietary advice.

Just my opinion.

There are books by Myers, Milken, the prostate cancer foundation, and elsewhere that I am certain you can follow with out the nutritionists fees. But I am 100% certain that a heart healthy diet and exercise is great advice. And when you are in your normal doctors office you can ask for lipid panels and other nutritional blood tests to see if there may be a need any supplementations due to deficiencies. But unless you eat poorly, you probably won't have any red flags.

My tests sometimes have shown a weak potassium count. LOL, what a great excuse to order Bananas Foster when I am at the restaurant...

I agree with Tony on the healthy heart diet, something we all could use, PC or no PC. And I agree strongly with lifeguyd, there is no magic potion out there that will stop or control cancer.

I did some accounting consullting work this past fall for a Hypnotherapist. To me, it was just numbers. But the guy scared me, as he really claimed he could control not only cancer side effects, but the growth of cancer too with hypnosis. Frightening. He even offered me free services to test his theory. I politely declined, rather old fashoned and stubbor I am, as I trust my current medical staff.

All kinds out there.
