OK, time to focus on the surgery and aftermath.

1) Did you all have very swollen private parts? Painful? How long? Did you do anything special about it (type of underwear or???)?

2) When you are incontinent and say wearing a pad, do you KNOW that you are leaking/peeing?

OK, enough for starters.

Mel (t-12 days and counting!)

Hi Mel,
I had bruising on the lower stomach and penis, but not painful.
I was continent almost immediately but the few leaks I had I was aware of, and for
the pads the best underwear I found were briefs, I normally wear boxers.

Cheers

Mell,
Mine was swollen for a few days. It looked like an Osage Orange , only purple. I wore briefs to hold things in place.

As for the incontinence, a few times I would think maybe something was going on and look down in my underwear. I thought I saw a string going from my pen*s to the pad. It was a stream of urine. Didn't feel a thing. I am guessing that is not a good sign.
Even now, 6 months later, the only indicator I have of leakage is the warm feeling as it dribbles over my bits.
It is getting a ittle better. These past 5 days the leak has gone down to about 280ml per day. Something is happening.

1. I had no bruising and no pain from the private parts. The single large incision (I had open surgery) was uncomfortable, but not painful, but again no bruising and very little swelling.

2. No incontinence problems.

My testicles and penis was swollen and discolored with technicolor bruising for a couple weeks after. No pain, just edema and bruising. Doc said a lot of it was gravity taking the blood and such, by osmosis downward into the scrotum.

Never had the pad problem

1. No

2. Yes. You will have the great pleasure of delivering a lecture at the same time that you know that you are peeing in your pants. No, this is not a Chinese curse, it is the truth. BUT no one except you will know -- so just get on with it.

P.S. Remember that you may not ride the unicycle as a part of lecture until 6 weeks after surgery.

Hey: PC is not for sissies!

I had some swelling and bruising with junior and the twins

Didn't have much pad experience, but did know the first day or two if I had a stress squirt. After that, no problems.

I had minor swelling and pain but it was tolerable. I was totally incontinent for about 6 months after surgery unless sitting or lying down. Since then the incontinence has faded to where I use a single pad for the day while at work. At home I can go through the day without a pad.

For a time I could hardly sit my balls were so big. Dr said it was lymphadema. It went away with a bit if icing after a few days.

1. No swelling or bruising, but the testicles were very tender for about 3 weeks.

2. If I leak, I know it. Even a small amount.

No swelling, no pain, no bruising.

Had a snake hanging out of my penis for 2 weeks.

Pretty much always knew when I was peeing, just couldn't stop it.

Oh, and still no swelling of the penis.

Yes I had bruising. It looked like a department store pet turtle wearing a dark navy blue turtle neck until I got home about a week later. The was a little bruising on my abdomen.

I wore boxer briefs, they work best for holding everything in place. You don't really want anything to be free swinging or moving around.

Don't know about the leaking. Was bone dry from the day the cath was removed. I wore a pad just in case for the first week and checked it often, but it was always dry.

Best of luck. You are going to enjoy having the SP catheter and not the Foley. Just make sure you don't get up and walk away without the catch bag. Hurts like hell, but only once. I promise you won't do it a second time.

Greetings, Mel.  I had open surgery and had no swelling or bruising.  I was dry from the start (although I wore a pad for a couple of days) and so I knew when I was peeing.  David

Hi Mel......Robotic for me. No bruising or swelling or pain following surgery. Just the immediate soreness of the incisions. Incontinence gardually abated, and i could have gone pad-free sooner than I did (approx. 3 months)

I had no swelling or bruising and only soreness. I had no sharp or throbbing pains. I never took a pain pill other then extra strength Tylenol. When I leaked at first I could feel it. When it got down to just a few drops I could not feel that amount. I was fully continent three months post op and do not have any stress incontinence.

1. Minor swelling and some bruising of the scrotum but with little pain. I had open and most of my pain was from the incision but that was bearable even without pain relief medication. I did have swelling of my member when I woke up the next day with morning wood.

2. No problems with IC or ED

I had robotic. Very little pain. The 3rd day everything turned purple down there. freaked me out but dr said thats normal. Some bloating and bruises @ abdomen. dissapeared in a few weeks.

The big leaks youll obvviously feel. Not so much the smalled drips. Yes, it can be discouraging. You just have to have patience. I was very happy with the progress at the 3-4 month mark. Briefs were my choice until then. Good luck! Youll be on the mend before you know it....turner

I did not have any swollen or discolored genitalia. I wore a pull-up for a week then changed over to pads. I was aware of when I was leaking but didn’t that didn’t last long  Briefs worked best from me.

I'm like Herophilus. Genitalia were not swollen, and I was aware of leaking but it didn't last long.
