Well its been 5 days since I saw my doctor, and he removed one of the two catheters in place. Getting rid of the foley which at that time had been in 3 weeks has helped a lot, at least on the pain front. My overall pain is probably only 40-50% of where I was at prior to seeing the dr. Still having residual pains in the rectal, penile, and bladder neck areas as before, still fighting a fair amount of fatique, especially later in the day.
Today marks the 135th consecutive day with a SP suprapubic catheter in place. Hard to believe. Never would have dreamed that this would still be going on so long, since October 1st of last year to be exact.
I will see the uro again a week from next Monday, but not sure what he will or wont be able to do. The plan was to have me off the SP cath, and be on the final recovery of the last corrective surgery with a foley. That didn't happen after 3 weeks of misery. He will have to see what shape I am in when I go back. He's hoping to scope me under heavy sedation, and wants to see if my bladder neck is still open at all, or has it already started scarring over. It will be over a month from surgery when I seem him again, but he was hoping to keep a foley in me to keep it open.
Still have a ways to go in this bizzare complication, but definitely an improvement on the pain front. The pain that is left is controllable with my regular pain meds. Last week at this time, two different meds couldn't cut the pain.
Meanwhile, I just keep plugging away, hoping to one day be free of all this mess.
