My latest psa drawn yesterday was 0.29. Two months ago it was 0.17. Three months prior it was o.o5 and three months prior to that it was less than 0.05. Yes it is rising and darn it really sucks but I still have a prostate and I have been off of casodex now for over a year. I am hoping to be off lupron for a while too but I wonder what the doc is going to say tomorrow. When you look at my overall stats and the initial 3200+ psa level 0.29 is a drop in the bucket but I just really dont want to have P.C. anymore. I stand on psalms 103 no matter what. Todd

Todd,
Keep the faith, buddy. He will guide you well.

The PSA rise just might be response to the lupron wearing off. Like you said with a prostate a 0.27 isn't unreasonable at all.

You can call any time. Love ya buddy!

Todd, my heart goes out to you, I know its not good to have numbers, however slight, moving stedialy in the wrong direction. Will be interesting to see what your doctor says next. My best to you, brother. May the Lord be with you.

Thanks James. I think it is fairly consistant with my last 3 tests. Each has roughly doubled over a 3 month period. My journey will begin its 5th year in a few months. I wasnt predicted to live a year. My Doc really doesnt seem too concerned. We just have to smack it on the head again. Maybe a little more watching and waiting. Maybe smack it with casodex down the road aways. Maybe chemo or the dozen or so other treatments availlable. Todd

Todd,

You certainly have chosen a powerful partner. He will continue with you on your journey, He promised.

We also are with you as well. You are my PC poster guy. I didn't know PSA's could really go that high.

As you mentioned, there are many more tools in the bag, and more coming.

God Bless, and thanks for taking the time to let us know how you are doing.

Todd, I think it clear your PCa responds well to what you call a smacking. You may have to give it another one or two. In the meantime the roar you hear coming from up north isn't us Canadians excited about beating the Russians in hockey this evening --- it's me cheering you on!

Deer hunter. My scans have been clean since after I started H.T.. Is it the lupron and casadex, I dont know. I choose to believe it is God but thats just me. I take 10 - 520mg. caplets of pau d' arco each day. I drink pomagranite juice and take 5000 IU a day of vitamin D. I eat very little red meat other than Deer and Elk. I eat a lot of fish but only wild caught. No farmed stuff. I eat a lot of broccoli and cauli and carrots. I trust in God. I got good reasons for that. I tell ya my bear story someday. Todd

I saw my Doc yesterday. She said that although my psa is nudging up that, as I have stated,  do have a prostate and the zero club is a temperary membership for me no matter what. She feels that there is no reason to change anything at this point. She ordered a CAT scan and said if the scan results were consistant with the last one a year ago, we would proceed with the lupron vacation. Good news unless I have a huge tumor somewhere.Todd

Todd,

One look at your sig would say that your statement about cancer is a gross understatement.  It certainly does suck, and a whole lot more verbs and adverbs can be added to it.

I think the most imortant thing for all of us is that we don't suck too.  Somehow, we've got to face this like men, and maintain our outlook on life.  As I've said before, your story inspires me.

Keep that chin up and chest out.  If at all possible, try to leave the CAT results in the background.  Find some other challenge to distract you.  Keep talking to the source of your strength.

Maybe you ought to consider writing a book.  I want to hear the bear story as well.

Keep on keeping on Todd.  Good luck on the scan results !

Hey Jeff and good life and all my other brothers. I spend a good amount of time at work and when not at work I love working around the house building fence etc. I am a pipefitter by trade and have 38 more days until I make journeyman. This has been going on as long as I have been fighting p.c. Work keeps me sane. I was asked why I dont retire but I figure if I dont quit movin then I wont quit movin lol. I love crawfish. Ours aint as big as ya'lls but they still mighty tasty with a big glass of cold beer. I also enjoy oysters in the half shell and razor clams which I just got two limits on saturday last. Todd, I knew your scan was coming up soon, will be thinking of you tommorow and praying you have good results.

Call me a sissy boy, I don't do crawfish (sewer lobsters when I was growing up), clams, oysters, mussels, or any thing nasty enough to live in a shell, lol. Was with my wife the other day visiting some "country" friends of her, the man of the house wanted me to eat some of his fresh Deer salami. I held my ground, lol, told him my lifetime policy is No Guts, No Game. Must be the city slicker in me.

I really hope you do well. And good luck on the Journey Man part too, that is awesome.

A sincere hug from a brother,

David in SC
