Hi Everyone,

Wanted to post my good news and hopefully my update will give a brighter outlook to the ones diagnosed with a relatively high PSA (17).

Just had my one year PSA and its still undetectable. This time, didnt have that much PSA waiting anxiety.

Good news on the ED front too - since the 9 month mark I have been able to achieve 95% erections with viagra or cialis and now at one year sometimes even without the pills (but its still a gamble). Its not exactly the same as pre-op (as most of you know) but its definitely workable.

Age at DX: 43
PSA: 11/08:15.6, 01/09:16.6, 02/09:17.1
Biopsy 12/08 at USF Tampa
8/12 cores positive, GS 3+3,
perineural invasion in 2 cores
Staged T1c
CT, Bone, XRay negative
03/04/09 - Open Surgery at Johns Hopkins by Dr Patrick Walsh
Path Report: GS 6, Tumor Contained, margin clears, nodes+vesicles clean
Both nerves spared,
Catheter Out: 03/18/09
Incontinence : Resolved from day one
ED : at 3 months ~ 20-30%; at 6 ~ 40-50%; at 9 months ~95% with pills; at 1 year ~95% with and without pills
Diet : Vegetarian, No-meat, no dairy diet since 01/09
Post Op PSA: 05/22/09 - 0.01;09/10/09 < 0.03 (undetectable); 02/22/10 < 0.03 (undetectable)

Great news. I also had very high PSA before surgery but now I am still in the zero club after one year. ED is still a problem although there is a little response (maybe 50%) with tadalafil.

Thank you all for the support. Just had my phone call with Dr Walsh to tell him my lab results and he put me on a yearly PSA check and said he expects everything to be fine from here on.
