Had a great meeting with the surgeon-- he has done 2500 da vinci's-- great result stats--- I am looking forward to getting thru this phase! I'll keep you guys posted--surgery in a couple of weeks-- thanks for the support---Craig

ED Started VED at 3 months, pills followed VCL none did much, tried MUSE at 9 months (YUCK) Hated it. 15 months out injections Caveject (succecc)

Age:  63 

Biopsy: May 09 showed 2 of 12 cores positive for prostate cancer -- 1 at 5% and 1 at 25%.  Cancer indicated as non aggressive.  Gleason Score: 3+3.

RRP on Oct 23/09 in London, Ontario.  Excellent surgeon. 

7 Weeks Post Op -  The fears I had about bad things about the operation and recovery did not materialise except of course ED!!.  Otherwise, everything went very smoothly.  Incontinence not a problem.  Wear a pad when out just in case. Pain was never a problem.

Pathology:  Unremarkable 

First followup PSA and Visit: Feb 11/10 - 0.0.

Next PSA May

Next doctor's visit in 6 months

Both are fantastic. As I told you before, Wilson did mine over three years ago. He did a great job.

Glasd you settled on a plan and are settled in your mind about your decision. Make sure you remind us shortly before your date so we can stand by while you move to the other side.. smilewinkgrin

Good hospital and doctor choice there. I hope and trust all will go well. Enjoy the "old you" for as long as you can before your surgery.

Be glad when you are safely on the other side, the recovery side.

Good Luck and pray for Divine Intervention. Have Faith and you'll do good. Remember as you have already been briefed here in the forum that every patient are different in the way they coped up with incontinence and ED. Hope and pray you do well and keep us posted.
Age 54; Age DX 53
PSA: May 07- 2.9; Dec 07-4.3; Jan 2008- 6.1; May 2008- 6.4; Sep 2008- 7.3 ; Sep 2008- 9.6
Bone Scan: Mar 2007- Normal without evidence of metastatic disease.
Biopsy Mar 2008: 6/6 core right gland- No evidence of malignancy; 5/6 core left gland- positive Gleason score 3+3=6 average tumor volume 5 mm.Clinical Stage II.
Transrectal ultrasound at UCSF Jun 2008: 7x14x10 mm hypoechoic lesion in left gland. DRE positive, PSA Density- 0.23 and Prostate volume - 27 CC.
RRP: 4 Dec 2008; Discharged - 8 Dec 2008; Cath removed- 18 Dec 08.
Pathology Report: Prostate- 33 grams; L/R pelvic lymph node -No evidence of malignancy; Right Lobe- No definite tumor; Left Lobe- Adenocarcinoma, Gleason 3+4.
No seminal vesicle invasion or lymphatic invasion i sidentified.
Post PSA: 7 Jan 2009 - <0.05.
10 Mar 2009 -<0.05
07 Sep 2009- <0.05

19 Feb 2010-  <0.05

Age 67 in Apil '09 at news of 4 of 12 cores positive T2B and Gleason 3 + 3 and 5% to 25% PSA 1.5

Re-read of slides in June said Gleason 3 + 4 same four cores 5% to 15%

June 29 daVinci prostatectomy, Dr. Eric Estey, at Royal Alexandra Hospital Edmonton one night stay

From "knock out" to wake up in recovery less than two hours.  Actual surgery 70 minutes

Flew home to Winnipeg on July 3 after 5 nights in Ramada Inn  ---  perfect recovery spot!

Catheter out July 9

Final pathology is 3 + 4 Gleason 7, clear margins, clear nodes, T2C, sugeron says report is "excellent"

First post op PSA Sept 09  less than 0.02

PSA on Oct 23 test again less than 0.02

PSA on Jan 8 less than 0.02  

Oct 1st 09 -- dry at night, during day some stress issues.

Oct 31st padless 24/7

I have heard he is one of the best.  At your age you will become the local expert on PCa, the one thing I tell everyone is get the best surgeon you can find. It seems to  make a big difference.  
Dx'ed 5/08 one core 2%  out of 12  3+3 gleason

DREs all negative

PSA was in the 3-4 range then jumped to 7

I have the enlarged prostate, on the order of 100cc.  After taking Avodart for 3 months  my

PSA was cut in half.

I did Active S for a year but concluded that I didn't want a life

of biopsies and Uro meetings.

DaVinci on 6/24/09  UCI Med Center  Dr Ahlering, long surgery based on size and location

Final was 5% one side all clear, but had a huge 90 grm prostate

Now we work on pee control, ok at night but sitting is a big problem.

I had my Surgery At COH. The entire experience was as good as it can get, under the circumstances. I have a great local Hospital and primary Dr. but chose to seek the most experienced Drs, and facility. It has been eight mos. since RRP and I have been recovering at a steady rate. I am sure you will find the most professional staff and the friendliest people ever!

Six Mos later ( PSA 4.9 ) after 90day Levaquin

One Mo later ( PSA 5.1 )

Four Mos later Biopsy ( 2 of 12 cores positive) 3+3=6

Three Mos later ( PSA 8.2)

Six Mos later 7/17/09 Robotic Radical Prostatectomy

Lab confirmed 3+4=7

Post Surgery PSA= 0.04 ( 1 month)

Post Surgery PSA= 0.02 (5 months)


Post Sugery: 10mg Cialis daily

One pad /day

Rare ocurrance of erection

Dr. = RX Muse(25mg)-no viable result

6 mos after RP-pad free

Da Vinci, Cleveland Clinic  4/14/09   Nerves spared, but carved up a little.

0/23 lymph nodes involved  pT3a NO MX

Catheter and 2 stints in ureters for 2 weeks .

Neg Margins, bladder neck negative

Living the Good Life, cancer free  6 week PSA  <.03

3 month PSA <.01 (different lab)

5 month PSA <.03 (undetectable)

6 Month PSA <.01

1 pad a day, no progress on ED.  Trimix injection

No pads, 1/1/10,  9 month PSA < .01
