Hi All,
In trying to deal with post operative ED.  I first used 10 mg ov Levitra.  It actually gave me a slight but unusable erection, more of a chubby thing.  Sorry but I can't think of a more appropriate way to say it.  However, I also got a fair amount of penile pain, thereby diminishing my desire to use again or increase the dosage.  So, last night I split a 100 mg Viagra and took the slightly larger half.  All I got was one heck of a stufffy nose and a crummy, lingering bad aftertaste in my throat.  I am wondering if anyone else has had this experiencel.  Also, given the very hard coating on Viagra, it doen's seem it should be split.  doing that seems to ruin the coatings ability to deiver it over a planned time period.  Any thoughts?  I'd appreciate them.

I cant answer that about Viagra as I have never tried it. I do split 20mg Cialis without any problems other than difficulty with the splitting. Some of the others might give you feedback about Viagra as the day goes on. Good luck.

I always split my viagra and have never had a problem with them being affected by the split.  They're a pretty fast acting pill so I don't think there's a coating that affects their absorbtion into the body.
Don't get discouraged that you can't get anything useable at this point.  It took me a full year and I've read in many places that a year is a good target.

The real Viagra's are very hard to split with just your fingers, you need a pill splitter

Generics are quite easy to break in half with your fingers

I suspect the powder is causing the bad after-taste. There is no reports that a Viagra cannot be split, Some medications are designed to be absorbed in the intestines and have a special coating for that, Viagra does not see to be one of those

Note: Viagra does give a stuffy nose symptom, they are also very picky with the foods that you have eaten, especially fatty foods

Most swap around betweeen cialis, viagra or levitra. I went overseas and got Eregra, which had far fewer side effects with excellent results, and costs about a third of the US brands. I believe almost all of them can be split. I use eregra with trimix and am good to go until he hopefully wakes up.

We are about the same time post surgery.

Chubby is a good word for Mr. Woody but that's better than the first few months when there are no reponse at all.

I use a VED for 15 min every day.  I also use half a Viagara (25 mg) a few times a week.  Bit of a stuffy nose and flushing in the face.

Pre surgery Viagara always used to give me a nice extra boost.  Willing to wait a year to see whether it will give me a usable erection.

Age:  63
Biopsy: May 09 showed 2 of 12 cores positive for prostate cancer -- 1 at 5% and 1 at 25%.  Cancer indicated as non aggressive.  Gleason Score: 3+3.
RRP on Oct 23/09 in London, Ontario.  Excellent surgeon.
7 Weeks Post Op -  The fears I had about bad things about the operation and recovery did not materialise except of course ED!!.  Otherwise, everything went very smoothly.  Incontinence not a problem.  Wear a pad when out just in case. Pain was never a problem.
Pathology:  Unremarkable
First followup PSA and Visit: Feb 11/10 - 0.0.
Next PSA May
Next doctor's visit in 6 months

I have used a pill splitter I got at wal-mart. The side effects seem to vary from time to time with me. Headache, stuffy nose even the "blue vision" a few times. With Cialias I seem to get more of the "delayed back ache"

good luck,

Got my 100 MG's through "North drugs: Canada. Manufactured in India and were shipped to me from Germany. HUGE cost advantage! These pills have a crease down the middle and using a splitter the obviously split quite well but splitting the two halves at 90 degrees don't go that well BUT close enough.

Saw your mention of the back ache with Cialis. They have just put me on that daily the last ten days, and I noticed yesterday and today that the back was a little more troublesome during the morning walk than it had been. Thought maybe I had overdone it, but couldn't think of how / why. Might be the answer.

No experience here with Viagra or Levitra (yet). But the small box-type pill splitters work well - I use one for other medications, with the approval of the pharmacist.

Any local Pharmacy or even supermarket would carry a pill splitter

Note : There is no time release effect with Viagra, its duration in your system is 4-5 hrs max

Also, key is to take it 1 hr after you ate and do not eat again for 2-3 hours

Also, in post op recovery the benefit of oral ED drugs is its healing via increasing blood flow not erections. Nocturnal erections are key to healing but you may not even know that occur

I split 100 mg viagara from ADC, I don't really need it, just use it every other time to use up my supply. I never get an even split because I use a knife on the counter to split. I get a stuffed up nose every time.
hope it starts giving you enhanced results soon.

Even before surgery, to get the most from Viagra, I would chew up a 100mg and swallow it with a glass of water on an empty stomach..You get a bit of a "rush" when you do that and the hoped-for effect occurs in about 10 minutes..They don't taste too bad, kind of like baking soda..

Post surgery, nothing has worked so far, and having been put on HT and starting radiation tomorrow, my status as one of the worlds great lovers has sadly come to an end....

While "nerve-sparing" sounds good, I have a feeling some important blood vessels can get cut during surgery which are just as important as the nerves...But hope springs eternal...

Hope all goes well for you tomorrow - that first day is a challenge with the water bomb.
Be nice to your therapists - I got off to a good start with mine, even if I did leak all over their machine trying to get to the can. Take them some Christmas goodies next week.

I split the 100mg Viagra's all the time as I didn't get any 'more' from 100mg than 50mg, and the whole pills at each dose cost exactly the same -- 50% discount!

The taste is awful once you break the coating, but the effects are the same.

When I was on the IMRT treatment my radiation oncologist gave me a prescription for Viagra 100. He said to split them in half so I just bit them in half. The taste is somewhere between bitter and dry but goes away quickly with a swallow of water.
