I had a telephone message from a Jewish friend last night saying he knew our family didn't celebrate Passover, but he was on his way to dinner at his daughter's for the First Seder and was calling to wish me a Happy Easter.

No doubt we have members here of all faiths, or none, and I hope it is within the religious guidelines of HW to wish all of our Jewish members a Happy Passover.

Several years ago on a trip to Israel I learned that in Israel there is only one Passover Seder meal.  In much of the rest of the world, including North America, there are two Passover Seder meals as the Seder, according to Jewish law, and the Jewish calendar, has to take place on a certain night and while this can be determined with accuracy in Israel (I think it has to do with the rise of a new moon) in the rest of the world an argument can be made that this means when the moon rises in Israel, or when the moon rises wherever a Jew happens to be on the planet.  And, as our guide in Israel noted, if there is the possibility of a debate on a point of law you can count on the Rabbis to debate it.  Accordingly, to cover all bases, many Jews outside Israel celebrate two Passover Seders  ---  just to be on the safe side.
