I am currently on Zoladex+ 150 mg Casodex, and the Zoladex is injected once per 3 months, i.e. 13 weeks.

about a week before my second and also before my third injection I had some bone pain (I had a lot of bone metastases when diagnosed), which then disappeared about a week after the new injection.
I think it is clear that I need a 12 weeks schedule, and I will ask my urologist so.

When I google somewhat around I find that the whole world is using a 12 weeks schedule, except here, in the Netherlands.
This has not been helped by the local supplier, which claims that the Zoladex depot should be good for up to 16 weeks !

I wonder if somebody has an injection schedule which is even shorter, say 11 weeks ?
Diagnosed at age 63 Sep'09: PSA 575, GS 7 (4+3)
3 positive cores in 6
Bone scan: as a fully lit christmas tree
With Zoladex+150mg Casodex PSA <0.1
Additionally 4-weekly Zometa (zoledronin acid)

Have you gone over to the yahoo groups on HRPCa, moderator is Howard Hansen...they have all this kind of stuff with answers or someone who has been there and done that type of things, usually. (www.hrpca.org look for links to join within it). Alot of great info is this group (worldwide internet group) that has been going on for many years now. Hey can you tell us how much 3 mos. shot-worth of Zoladex is in your country in USA dollars??? I presume it is less than we spend here which is common place, I heard in Spain it was hugely different in price from a friend on a forum. (edit)-Thanks I found you mentioned these costs on another thread that I started....very interesting to know such.

Can you choose different docs under your health care, and is there any reknown oncologist type docs in your area?? Just curious.

Zoladex 10.8 mg (3 months) is €600, about US$819, delivered at home.
Zometa (4 weekly) is €320, about US$437, and delivery at home is also included.

We have a required basic health insurance, which is about €85-90 (US$116-123) per month, depending on the insurance company (there are about 45 to choose from).
You can optionally take additional insurances.
For the basic insurance you can not be turned away.

You have a free choice of docs. Our small town local hospital has only 3 urologists and 2 oncologists.
You always have the right to ask for a second opinion elsewhere.

There is, at 15 miles distance, the Erasmus Medical Center (in Rotterdam), which has 9 urologists.
The oncological institute, Erasmus MC - Daniel de Hoed, has 16 oncologists, and 8 in training (it is part of the Erasmus University Rotterdam).

Thanks for responding brother Arno I like to learn all I can and add it to my so called data brain drain bank on PCa. Atleast your costs are alot more in line with reality and they are still making profits on this stuff, too. You can see why our health care system is a financial mess, cheating even goes on too. I hope you get decent care, I presume you looked into these drugs and other possible options you might have or hope such for you. You are a survivor thus far, which is impressive. Best to you and yours.
