I am off to doctor on wednesday to get a prescription for trimix and dropped into local compounding pharmacy to make sure I am asking for all the right things -
-found out there were two strengths of trimix - if the first mix doesn't work then on to the other compound..

... and found out the auto-injector is not available from their pharmacy

- I checked with my local Shoppers Drugmart ( major Canadian national drug store) and they weren't able to get it in.. but found a link via amazon.ca ( amazon.com cannot shipped me the auto-injector across the border - we are a foreign country)

I was able to order it at: www.diabetesexpress.ca for about CA$32.00 ( for Canadian locations only)

Also - in Canada, we cannot get the behind the counter Sudafed since that contains Pseuodoephidrine which they can make into ecstasy ... so is there another remedy to priapism ( a 4 hour boner-ific) other than off to the emergency room...

..also.. pharmicist stated starting dose being .3ml - which to me is a high start level ....

thanks

Tatt,

I was under the impression that in Canada, like most western countries, drugs containing pseudoephedrine had simply been placed behind the pharmacy counter, so that you have to ask the pharmacist for it (and sign a log). I do this all the time for sinus meds.

The Sudafed Canada web page says:

SUDAFEDĀ® Decongestant 12 hour is now available from the pharmacist (no prescription necessary).
http://www.sudafed.ca/en/faq.asp

Of course, you're the one in Canada, so maybe I'm wrong!

(Also, a side note: pseudoephedrine is used in making methamphetamine, not ecstasy. Meth is a far greater danger to the community than ecstasy, due to its extreme addictiveness.)

- thanks for the input and info -
-the pharmacist said that the sudafed decongestant was altered so it not longer carries the original pseudoephedrine -it now contains Phenylephrine instead ( as per the Pharmacist and sudafed website)
- your take on the meth creation/ problem makes more sense than ecstasy...
-thanks again

Bros,

I agree with Galileo, the drug in the sudafed is used in making meth, they find it all the time when they bust up meth labs in my area. You don't need a prescription for it, but its now behind the counter, you just can't reach up and grab it and fill your shopping cart.

I am more than happy to break international law and mail you some sudafed.
Of, course, with the homeland security situation, if caught, you will be labeled as a terrorist and end up in guantanamo bay. But, I will be there with you. But I will Finger Jeff as Mr. Big....the brains behind it all.

Simple solution, just get an RX for Pseudoephedrine from your Dr , or at the very least make sure you ask him what you can take at home as a remedy should your erection last over 4 hours

David - sorry I wasn't clear in my posting - I talked to the pharmacist directly, in person - and it is not behind the counter and not available in Canada - it does not exist - they changed the formula - see my second posting above.

Mr. Gimpy - will check with my family doctor about a prescription for Pseudoephedrine or alternative solution - he is very pro boner - so will have a solution to that -

- even though I live in Canada, thanks Paul for the advice on blaming Jeff - but which one? - ;)

hugs

Visited my doctor today - april 28-
I had a very good chat with my family doctor about a variety of things - and he even had me back (after another patient) during his lunch hour to finish up our details - he is the doctor who called long distance by phone to get my arse over to a urologist and check out my prostate ASAP...

1- ED - got an prescription for trimix (triple mix up here) and went through the notes on what and how to inject, etc.. and if priapism does occur go to emergency room since the original sudafed is not available - also start at 0.2ml for dosage ( it can be 0.2 - 0.3ml to start)

2- cholesterol - now on lipitor ( family history of heart disease on both sides) - which hopefully will help ( with my new diet) to keep the PSA levels down

3- tinnitus - had about an hour ( travelled 2-1/2 hours by bus from Peterborough to Toronto) before appointment with family doctor to drop into drop-in clinic to talk to clinic doctor about tinnitus and causes - antibiotics can cause tinnitus and it can also be affected by repetitive noise ( will be wearing ear plugs due to CPAP machine from now on) and fluid imbalance in middle ear... but due to previous hearing history ( and a childhood of antibiotics) and PCa surgery effects - it seems that CIPRO is main alleged culprit . ( others here may differ - I am just going to learn how to deal with it)

4- lymphedema - due to the lymph node dissection at the time of the RP - I do have swelling of the lower legs at the end of the day - and would be best if I sleep with them raised up - I work in a garden centre - standing for 9 hours straight ( betcha never thought to see that word associated with me ! tongue ) so at the end of the day -even with the shorty sport socks - the lower legs look like balloon animals...

so all in all a good day - positive support from clinic doctor on "beating cancer" as well as my family doctor - I gave him one of my paintings as a "anniversary gift "- he has been my doctor for 20 years - and he now has it hanging in his office -

-off to work again - 6:30-9:30 meeting - learning about ponds and pond equipment - so hope to drop into wednesday night chat to say a tired but happy "hello"

hugs
BRONSON

additional post - family doctor had two patients experience priapism and they took sudafed cold/allergy which has Pseuodoephidrine (60mg) as part of the mix - and that worked - so have that on hand if necessary ... this stuff gets complicated doesn't it ....

Hi Bronson,

My Sudafed contains pseudoephidrine. It seemed to work a few days ago. Unless I'm wrong, I showed the package to my ED doc after my ER visit for priapism and he said "that's the stuff...".

Hope you're well.

Mike

-Nov/Dec 07, March 08 and Dec 08: Severe perineum pain . Septra/Bactrim for 8 months for diagnosed prostatitis.
-PSA start of 2008: 5.3..... PSA June of 2008: 7.3
-14 DRE all benign or nothing felt
-TRUS Biopsy Nov 08: 5 of 8 cores positive GS 3+3 or 6. 30-65%. Perineural invasion.
-General Health: pretty good, 5' 10", 180 lbs, slim.
-Open RP surgery: May 09 both nerve bundles spared. Bilateral lymph node dissection performed. Discharged 48 hours after surgery.
-Post Surgery Pathology: pT3a N0 MX, extraprostatic extension (EPE), stage III prostate cancer, lymph nodes clear, seminal vesicles clear, Gleason upraded to 3+4 GS 7. EPE within surgical margins. Other than prostate and EPE, all tissue removed negative for cancer involvement.
-Bladder control within 48 hours of catheter removal
-ED ongoing but improving. ED oral meds don't do much. TRIMIX working very well. Initial dose of 0.1 mL too much. Had priapism at 0.075 mL that ended up in a humiliating ER visit. Dose now after 50% dilution by Uro about 0.025 mL of original prescription. Had 3 hour wood the other day at 0.025 mL of original prescription and took a couple sudafed (ER memories).
-Sometimes flaccid state close to pre-surgery. Other times not. Can get to 50-70% without any meds often recently. Did notice a slight kink last TRIMIX...back to the pump.
-11 month PSA undetectable.
-Life is good and getting better.

first attempt at trimix on may 3 was so-so -- did the worry wart routine and used only .15ml -left side ( dominant hand) instead of .2ml - got a 50% response..
... may 6 - used .2ml -right side ( the other hand) and accidentalLy hit a vein...hard to see and maintain injection site location due to barrel chest ...
... immediately did cold icepack and sudafed... was ok by bedtime ( 2 hours later) .

..next morning it looked bruised and battered.... will wait for at least a week before attempting left side again(dominant hand) ..
... all this due to the wish not to be stuck with a 2" willie ( I lost two inches flaccid - due to RP surgery)...

BRONSON

p.s. will use the depth changer attachment - to minimum depth on auto-injector to avoid this from happening again... shakehead
