I am now six months post da Vinci and am going crazy with a recent development of night time incontinence. I have been pad free all day for almost two months, but have been wearing one at night because of possible leaking while sleeping. However, in the last two weeks or so, it's been happing with increasing frequency and volume, and the pads provide no protection for this sort of thing. Sometimes I will have pee dreams that I recognize as a warning and can wake up before it's too late, but usually I find that darn toilet in my dream and only wake up after it's over. I woke up at 5am this morning with this problem, went back to bed and it happened again an hour and a half later! What the hell is going on? I thought night time continence was the first to return? Now even when I'm wide awake in the middle of the day, my first reaction to starting a good pee is, "Oh my god, I'm wetting the bed!" Why is this happening now? Anybody else gone/going through this?
Diagnosed July 2009 adenocarcinoma of the prostate, T1c,PSA 4.5, biopsy (July 13, 2009) showed small focus of prostatic adenocarcinoma, gleason score 3+3=6 involving 1% out of 1 of 12 cores.DaVinci Surgery (October 19, 20009, Northwestern, Nadler, "excellent bilateral nerve sparing was carried out" (his words)) pathology showed no cancer at all!! PSAs at two weeks, one month and three months 0.0. Pad free (mostly) finally at 3 1/2 months. Total ED from surgery, with no sign at all of any pending return of life at four months. No response at all from V, L or C at full strength & empty stomach with plenty of manual and visual stimulation. No response to early use of MUSE.

Hey Architectman,
You are not alone. I occasionally have that. It's always those darn pee dreams. Remember when "wet dream" meant something else? The other night I dreamt I was filling a pee cup. It got right to the top and began to overflow and that woke me up. about a month ago I dreamt I had to go badly while outside in the woods. I went up to a tree and .... There you have it.
I suggest controlling your fluids 2-3 hours before bedtime. That way you've pretty much emptied your bladder befroe you slide between the sheets.
Congratulations on your continence otherwise. You are well on your way.

Not sure myself but I see my URo today and will ask about meds. Mine has gotten worse since SRT and they tried me on Flomax but that was like opening the flood gates. Shoot I cant even remember my dreams now as it seems like I just rest long enough to use the restroom again.

I am two years out and was continent early on during the day. At night, it was a different story. The better sleep I had, the wetter I ended up. I ended up wearing depends instead of guards until I was continent. I hope you improve.

I am 6 months out from DaVinci. I have mostly dry nights, but maybe once a week or 10 days I blow out a pad at night. Fortunately I wake up immediately, so a Tena or Walgreens Certainty heavy pad is enough (so far). I waste a lot of pads, as half the nights I don't lose a drop, but when I do ...
I have not figured out what the trigger is, but most likely it is being overly tired - staying up working too late, or perhaps the very late dinner (usually the two travel together).

Drinking a lot of water just before going to bed is a sure-fire way to have a nighttime leak.

I'm just 5 days into IGRT, so it may still get worse. confused

It's amazing how much one can drain during the night hours. Though I am still on a long term catheter, I often drain more fluid at night then I do all day. Not long ago, I emptied the night bag about 10 PM, didn't go to sleep till about 2 AM. Woke up at 8 AM, and had completely filled a 2000cc night bag all the way to the start of the hose.

When I was originally going dry after surgery, before all these other complications, I did go dry at night almost instantly, so there must be some other variables in there

I am nearly 12 months out from operation and I get the occassional "wet dream" It does not seem to matter whether I drink before bed or not. When it happens it is always linked to a dream of some sort, sometimes I cannot remember the dream but just the fact that I was dreaming. I am 99.9% dry during the day and I can lift and stretch pretty well without a problem and the night time leakage happens about once a month but I usually wake up pretty quick so the leak is quite small. All the best from England.
Diagnosed February 2009. Gleason 6, Psa 7.2, 12 core biopsy, and then Mri scan, which showed organ specific.
DaVinci at Addenbrookes, Cambridge, England 18th May 2009.  Nerves removed one side.
Catheter in for 8 days, no pain, no post op problems apart from an infection, cleared with antibiotics.
Some aching around the penis, which still occurs.
6 week psa 0.1, post op pathology all good, confirming pre op tests. Ed a problem, no treatment as yet.
Light ladies pad during the day, just to control a slight dampness and a Tena for  men pad at night for occassional leakage.
Awaiting 3 month consultation at the moment.
Sept 09 - still awaiting consultation. 99% dry during the day, tena pad at night just in case.
Sept 18th 09. PSA less than 0.1
Sept 29th follow up consultation at Addenbrookes. Staff happy with progress.
Nov 11th update. One small stress dribble in the last 2 months. Still some muscle stiffness in pelvic area.
March 20th psa less than 0.1 Very occassional stress dribble. No pads for several months.
