Hi. Just saw urologist due to continued elevated PSA. Latest 7.1 July 09 had a wonderful biopsy....12 little nuggets snipped out of my prostate and it came back clear. Now doctor wants to repeat again. He says it feels real nice digitally and I don't have symptoms. I am 64, vegetarian, but eat tons of fish and run many miles. This must be normal for me. Right?

I would recommend a color doppler procedure to help find it. If you are not having BPH symptoms, your PC ( if there is any) could be in an area where the biopsy doesn't hit.

The other thing I would ask about is free PSA. This is another indicator.

I agree with Goodlife regarding free psa. I would also inquire about a PCA3 test, which might offer some additional guidance on the need for another biopsy.

It is also important to do several PSA tests over a few months to get an idea of how fast (or hopefully slowly) it is rising.

Thanks all. I'm having a free PSA drawn tomorrow. We'll see.

Was your biopsy guided with a sonagram? Make sure the next one is a saturation biopsy. 7.1, while not outrageous high, means some thing is going on, infection,BPH, Im assuming ur urolgist rulled them out be fore biopsy. Im a runner, myself, boston, 74,75,76 and 77. Planing a marathon is sept, which will be 11 mos post RRP. You will be fine either way, it will be just a little more complicated if its positive, stay cool.
age 66 First psa 4/17/09 psa 8.3, 7/27/09 psa 8.1
8/12/09 biopsy 6 out of 12 pos 2-70%, rest <5% 3+3

pathology- prostate confined, only thing positive was the report.everything else negative
9% of prostate affected. gleason 3+4, I suppose thats a negative
After reading pathology myself, gleason was 3+4 with tertiary 5, 2-3 foci That is a negative, but I am a positive !!
Ed an issue but keeping the blood flowing with the osbon pump
8 week psa 0,o
