Hi everyone,

My father is seeing a surgeon who does 60 - 70% robotic surgeries but suggested my father have open surgery because he has a smaller frame. He says for men with small frames and pelvises, open is more precise. He's a very credible surgeon with a top-tier institute but we've never heard this before and we can't find any other info on this. Has anyone else heard this from their doctors?

AAS,

I read (do not remember source) that robotic surgery is better for small patients because of the robot arms accessibility limitations. But it is very possible that I misunderstood that source.

I also read that some doctors refuse to operate fat men and ask them to reduce weight as a condition to be accepted for the surgery.

Best wishes to your Dad.
