There is a lot of info out there about Vitamin B17 and apricot seeds helping fight the spread of cancer and recurrence of cancer.  I would be interested in any feedback or input on this.

Thank you for all the good info fellow PCa warriors.   Jah is in control.

I found a Wikipedia article on this. This is also know as amygdalin or laetrile.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amygdalin

The last paragraph of this article says

"The U.S. National Institutes of Health evaluated the evidence separately and concluded that clinical trials of amgydalin showed little or no effect against cancer.[13] For example, a 1982 trial of 178 patients found that tumor size had increased in all patients. The authors reported that "the hazards of amygdalin therapy were evidenced in several patients by symptoms of cyanide toxicity or by blood cyanide levels approaching the lethal range"."

Yikes! Cyanide levels approaching the lethal range!

I saw that as well, but dug a little deeper.  This book looks interesting:

Sometimes I wonder what info the Multi Billion drug industry can control to protect their    interests. Any food, drug, supplement taken in huge doses can be damaging to your body.

That said, I am new to all this cancer info and can be remarkably obtuse about same.  JF

I have also done alot of research on this! I have a friend whose brother has recurrent thyroid cancer that spread with a tumor in one of his lungs. He researched apricot seeds and had his brother on it before he was to start chemo. Just before chemo was to start, drs did another scan and the tumor shrank. Drs couldnt believe it. I am only going by hearsay but believe my friend. I have also read about the cyanide levels and apparently if you follow the regime to a T, you are ok. What to believe, what not to believe.

Thank you so much for your prayers! It is very trying. I am not wife yet and we are talking about it now extensively. We have been together for 7 years with our trying times in between and this is now the worst! I love him with all my heart and want to believe that he will be with me forever. I am doing everything I can to make sure of it.

After surgery, I had a talk with my internist about vitamins. His wife (also an M.D.) writes books on women’s health and nutrition so he is well informed on the topic. His view is that there is no strong evidence of cancer prevention or cure for any compound and for those which might show some anti-cancer action there are also studies which show cancer acceleration or other harm. Personally, he takes Vitamin D, plus an eye vitamin because of a family history of macular degeneration.

Based on his advice the only supplement which I take is 1,000 iu of vitamin D3. I also avoid red meat and fats and try to eat lots of whole grain products, fruits and vegetables. But this is simply for overall health benefits rather than any cancer-specific expectations..
