Thanks Mel and Mika.
For those concerned, my wife has spoken a lot with my uro/surgeon, and she wouldn't have assisted today in removing the cath if she didn't feel right about
it. The dr. gave her permission the last time I was on 2 caths to remove it herself when needed. Since she didn't have the right syringe handy at home, she snipped the side of the cath that the inject water into the balloon, and slowly let out the water, as I was standing in the bath tub. Then I slowly pulled the cath myself, terrified of something that never happened, lol, and it dropped out like a slippery snake to the floor of the tub. As usual, no pain, just creepy feeling as it comes out. I looked at the inlet end, and it was real clean with no blood or gunk, but then it had been in only for 2 weeks and wasn't the primary cath. Still was nice to have that thing out of me. I have lost track of how many foley (penis) caths I have had, but can honestly say, that not a single one of them every hurt comng out. On the other hand, ever single SP cath has hurt going in and coming out, least the ones that were done when I wasn't knocked out in surgery. Only the doctor himself takes those out or puts one in, doesn't even let his nurse help, as things can go wrong real fast, and you don't get a second chance with the SP
opening in the body, as it will close over quickly.
