I have recently received a flood of junk emails from Viagra pill pushers. Has anyone have a similar experience? Just wondering how they got my email address.

Mag, hopefully its not from all the **** sites you frequent for 'health reasons', lol. I don't get those, but probably 10-20 times a day, I get email from people telling me that house is about to be foreclosed, right down to my address. Never even been late on a payment before.

My jumk emails are usually from Uganda saying that I have won millions in the lottery.  Maybe it is from the ADC website.  Do you use them?

I went to ADC once, didn't order anything, but did set up a login. Within days I was getting "cheap drug" emails - not sure if the two are related, but could be.

Regal - I wouldn't believe that it comes from having signed into HW - 1) I didn't post my email in the public side 2) I don't expect that Peter would share the private info.

I got about 30 of those those junk emails this morning. All trying to sell me ED pills. Like vultures decending on a body that's not even dead yet! :-) .

Everyone should have more then one email account/address.

Use the spare one when you have to provide an address but would rather not.

Thanks for all your good advice. I'm usually very careful whom I give my address to. I do use the junk mail filter, of cause, but it's still a nuisance. Having a second email account would transfer the problem, but not really solve it.
David, sorry to hear that the vultures are even trying get your home! shakehead . May the fleas of a 1000 camels invade their armpits.

I spent several years using “one shot” addresses when I signed up with businesses or websites. (I run my own mail server so I can have as many addresses as I want.) I discovered that these produced very little spam. Most of it comes to my regular (professional) email address which has to be semi-public.

A good email filter is the answer. I use the Thunderbird email package (free) because it both learns from what I mark as junk and also lets me set filters myself.

By the way, my wife’s company runs a corporate email filter which last year managed to mark some emails from her boss as spam! (No, he wasn’t selling blue pills.)
Age at diagnosis 66, PSA 5.5
Biopsy 12/08 12 cores, 8 positive
Gleason 3+4=7
CAT scan, Bone scan 1/09 both negative.

Robotic surgery 03/03/09 Catheter Out 03/08/09
Pathology: Lymph nodes & Seminal vesicles negative
Margins positive, Capsular penetration extensive Gleason 4+3=7
6 weeks: 1 pad/day, 1 pad/night -- mostly dry at night.
10 weeks: no pad at night -- slight leakage day/1 pad.
3 mo. PSA 0.0 - now light pads
6 mo. PSA 0.00 -- 1 light pad/day
9 mo. PSA 0.00 -- 1 light pad/day ED remains
12 mo. PSA 0.00 -- still one light pad and ED
16 mo PSA 0.00 -- light pad just for security, ED still an issue

I have been been a long term member of this site (signing up with my real email address) and have had no junk email that I can attribute back to this site. Also I have a HealingWell email account, used if you click the email button on the left of this post. That has been valid for the last month -- no junk has arrived there either.

So from my perspective, HealingWell is clean.

As an exercise, try googling your email address. If it shows up in any search, that will be a probable source of infection.
Pre-op:
Age 63 at diagnosis, now 65.
No symptoms; PSA 5.7; Gleason 4+5=9; cancer in 4 of 12 cores.
Operation:
Non-nerve-sparing open surgery on 7 March 2008.
Two nights in hospital; catheter out after 7 days.
Post-op:
Continent; no pads needed from the get-go.
Pathology showed organ confined and negative margins. Gleason downgraded to 4+4=8.
PSAs:
6-week : <0.05
7-month: <0.05
13-month: 0.07 (start of a trend?)
19-month: 0.09 (maybe)
25-month: 0.2 (yes, bummer)
27-month: 0.2 (not up; glad about that)
ED:
After a learning curve, Bimix injections (0.2ml) worked well. From 14 months, occasional nocturnal erections. At 18 months, "graduated" to just the pump.

Yes, it happens every time you sighn up for a site like this. mark them as spam and your spam filter will filter them out.

Tony's reply...
Negative on that one. I have been a member of HealingWell for 4 years. Never once spammed as a result of my membership.

Thanks Piano. I've tried your suggestion, but nothing shows up when I Google my email address. I know this site is clean because I've been a member since 2006 and have never had this problem. It is also more than a year since I have used ADC. So, I'm stumped for the time being.

I have been getting those for years. You all can relax I never received any from the address I use on this site.

They can get your address from someone else's computer that does not have the best security. There are email harvesters that look for addresses. It finds one, goes to that machine, looks at an unprotected email contact and there you go - on the list for the BBBEEST V1Agggraa!
By the way, I never received spam from ADC.
My wife gets ads for it too. Spousal support I suppose.

There's a new breed of spammers that harvest email accounts from yahoo, google, Facebook and other sources. Once they get into a user's account, they will scan that person's address book and start sending spam to every address.

There isn't much you can do about this, except to restrict your use of the internet. My son and daughter have both had their email accounts hijacked and all their friends started getting the ED drug spam. They had to create new accounts with better password security.

I have joined several prostate groups and receive no viagra ads at all. My wife, on the other hand, who has joined none, receives lots. Maybe it's because a year or so ago I started listing myself as under 13 years of age on a few groups I joined!

Same here. I am overwhelmed by email for generic get it up meds. It is nothing to have 300 of them caught in my spam. My email address has been hijacked and is used to send email pushing the drugs. I have received email from myself to myself pushing the dubious meds. Whenever something gets through the spam detector I block the sender or block them via addressee name. It is interesting that most are not actually addressed to me........ the addressee's email name simply starts with the same letter as mine and they use the same ISP. This all started a while after using ADC. I doubt they are responsible but perhaps somebody in their organization is on-selling the addresses.
