One of my friends recommended starting to take Ultimate Omega 1000 mg soft gels by Nordic Naturals Co.

Any feedback (including recommended dosage, say 1 or 2 gels ) will be appreciated.

Thank you,
Sharp

I take 2 of these every day. That is the dose suggested on the bottle. A more scientific approach might be to do a fatty acid profile test (see link below), determine your ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3 acids (and/or ratio of arachidonic acid to EPA), and then determine the appropriate dose of fish oil based on where your ratios are and where you would like them to be. This probably requires some study on your part, or some advice from a knowledgeable doctor.

Hi Sharp,

Medved is correct a test will determine what dosage you need

It also depends on what you wish to accomplish, but most studies you will read show that DHA supplementation is much more of a benefit that EPA

I needed a higher dosage of DHA, so I went with the single pill Solgar 950 Omega - 3, then I chase that with one Carlson DHA Gems

so my 2 pill a day provides

EPA = 642mg
DHA = 908mg

Two of the Nordic 1000's provide
EPA = 650mg
DHA = 450mg

Really want a blast of Omega-3, pick up a few cans of this Wild Planet Tuna,

EPA= 720mg
DHA = 2320mg, WOW

Thats just one 5 oz can, most health food stores and some supermarkets carry this brand now. Best yet, no chance of fish breath that sometimes arises from pill form
