This is a real inspiring story of longevity with a lousy PCa scenario and prognosis back from 1999.  He also got Dr. Sartor and Dr. William Oh envolved in his protocols which included  using  Keto and DES later.  His psa at diagnosis:  4,212  (gulp!!!)

He died last year  Aug. 17th 2009, but died from lung cancer?, it is in the biography, his wife wrote the last posting update.  So, the oncologists can make a real difference for PCa warriors is also the lesson herein. Can you imagine what panic must have felt like when he got his news as a newbie??

www.yananow.net/Mentors/TruemanS.htm   (what a story in PCa history)

www.yananow.net/Chart-PSA1020.htm  (this is the link to finding all the PCa biographies on yananow by treatment types, mine is therein too. Maybe ya'll should put your bio story on yananow and update it over the years.)
Dx-2002 total urinary blockage, bPsa 46.6 12/12 biopsies all loaded 75-95% vol.; Gleasons scores 7,8,9's (2-sets), gland size 35 normal, ct and bone scans appearing clear- ADT3 5 months prior to radiations neutron/photon 2-machines, cont'd. ADT3, quit after 2 yrs. switched to DES 1-mg, off for 1 yr., controlled so well, resumed, using intermittently, pleased with results

zufus,

it is a great story of endurance and lasting. but unless i am reading too much into his life, the time that he bought himself through HT was plagued with plenty of low quality of life issues, especially the long term, chronic fatigue, and more importantly, the disturbing emotional roller coaster ride of negative emotional feelings, not for months ,but for years on end. I am not taking anything away from this great fighter of our disease, but it still comes down to choices, choices in how one wants to live, and at what costs. i am glad to know that he is at peace now, and hope that his famly is bearing up to his death.
