After RP my uro put me on cialis every other day (10mg) for increased blood flow to help things along for the next three months. I developed bad muscle pain from it so he switched me to levitra,  from this I have too much flushing (kids say I look like santa). It seems that I just don't tolerate these meds well, at least for long term use. I think that I remember reading a mayo clinic study that said guys who take these for maintaince recovery do no better than the ones who don't. Has anyone else read or heard any statistics about this? If it does not make much difference I would rather wait a bit longer for ED recovery than to deal with these side effects.
Thanks for any info...

Sorry to hear that the ED pills won't do the job. That leaves you with 3 options, I'm afraid. First, stop them and see how it goes on it's own. Second, get a penis pump and do the same thing manually (as long as you understand its for recovery, not for sex use. Most guys find penis pumps more trouble than thay are worth, as far as penetration goes). Third, move on to the penile injections. Some studies indicate that they do more sooner and better than any of the other two. It's a lot to consider, in either of these 3 cases, I know. Hope this helps with your decision.

After DaVinci, my uro put me on Cialis after I insisted, but he has little faith in it.
A 10mg dose of Cialis was too strong for me - caused a lot of lower back pain.
I'm on 5mg per day now. It still bothers me, but not enough to make me stop.
I did have to stop altogether during IGRT, as the discomfort was enough that I could not be as still as was required.

Husband's surgeon put him on cialis 1/2 of a 20 mg twice a week for rehab starting after the cath came out. Had headaches and back ache. Tried viagra- same result as you on levitra. Now he's cutting the 20 mg into 3 pieces and that's working for him-only a slight headache.

Husband diagnosed 3/10
Age 56, PSA 4.7, free 7.6%

Biopsy 5 of 10 cores positve-all right side-25% to 57%
Gleason 6
DaVinci surgery with Dr. Vip Patel scheduled 8/9/10

Post Op: Gleason 3+4=7
Negative surgical margins and lymph nodes
No seminal vesicle and angiolymphaic invasion
perineural invasion present
Both nerve bundles spared

James C .. don't forget the other options ... like MUSE and TRIMIX GEL -- not quite 'injections' -- more like insertin's and splurtin's ...

My latest sessions for MUSE(1000) and TRIMIX GEL(1000) were giving very good, 100% hardwood -- especially when using the 'very loose ring' method that you recommend always. (I used one of those sex shop - rings-with-beads -- you can find em anywhere on-line -- AND they glow in the dark for added fun ;-) ).

It is just enough to prevent 'back flow' and not enough to make a 'swivel joint' .... just about perfect.

My uro put me on once daily Cialis 5mg.  He gave me a few weeks worth of samples so I am going to use all of them.  Cialis has a free trial on their website and after I use that up I will be using ADC.  The Cialis does cause lower back and thigh pain but it seems to be getting better.  Since I am not a doctor I do think I will follow my doctor's instructions the best I can.

Pre OP PSA: 1/2008=5.9, 2/2010=6.0 (free=9%)

Biopsy, 4/10/2010 This was my 2nd Biopsy. The Uro put me out and took 36 samples. 3 samples positive 1%, 2%, 2% no evidence of perineural invasion. T1c
