I had DaVinci (robotic) last fall at age 56. I was kept in the hospital for four days not so much for pain, but because I had issues with balance and extreme nausea while trying to walk. It was also over a weekend, so part of the decision was the availability of immediate care if something went awry at home. There was some concern over reaction to the meds used in the course of surgery.
But, I will say I used the IV button and the pain meds in the first 10 days or so. Pain was significant the first few days at home, but then I never refilled the pain med prescription.
Over time, I think I have had "normal" pain, comparing to the comments of others.
