Please use this month to tell people about your illnesses. In the United States, September is National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

The InfoLink has posted the official prostate cancer proclamation:

Could we have a PC non-awareness month when us guys with PC can forget about it ? I am too aware. My friends are starting to avoid me, as I ask if they had their PSA checked yet !

I hear ya loud and clear. It's been 4 years for me, I could use a month without it crossing my mind. As long as you don't offer your friends DRE's I think they'll come back...

We want to encourage men to be aware. But I am encouraging them to see a doctor... They can be made more aware there...lol

Goodlife (and others, as may be appropriate),

Some patients may benefit from their own "Cancer-free Day" once a week, or whenever. Agree with your spouse & family that nobody (this probably applies mostly to you) will talk about cancer, write (here; elsewhere) about cancer, or think (good luck with that one) about cancer for the entire day.

Try it!  Your family and friends might appreciate it in ways that you don't understand, and you might benefit, too.

Thanks Casey. Actually I jest a little.

I really am enjoying the Good Life. I feel great , lost 35 pounds over the summer , working hard, enjoying my family, social occasions, camping, etc. etc. I would not say that I dwell on it any day of the week, or that I am depressed in any way.

The thread topic just struck me a little funny. Some of us do need to take time to be unaware.

The only time I am more aware than other times, is when I think about the three letter word beginning with s and ending with x. Must admit to being too aware at those times. But, I would do it again to be enjoying each day as I do.

I was pleased in my area for once. all 4 major hospital groups are doing multiple free PSA and DRE screenings this month. Usually, they rotate one hospital group at the time, never seen all of them. Perhaps, they are competing for the same patients to pay off their shiny new robotic hardware purchaces. just joking, I hope on that last comment.

I am glad its getting wide spread attention here, for once. Most of you probably know that SC has a high African-American population statewide, so I am hoping that some of our friends from those communities will take advantage of these free screenings.
