don't laugh, but could this be a new ED therapy?

Okay, here it goes, and let me know if we should be posting to the franktalk site I've seen mentioned, but haven't visited (yet).  Husband has been taking the quarter dose of the Viagra and will be taking his full 100 tonight.   No success with the ED yet, although we're having fun.  This idea occured to me last night.  When I had back issues 10 yrs. ago, part of the therapy was ultrasound (if I remember correctly) to the effected area to promote oxygenated blood flow and heal the muscles, calm the nerves (not sure of the nerve part since I'm not a PT person).  They used the gel beforehand that is used when conducting ultrasounds on women during pregnancy.  Felt good but no idea what was happening deep below the surface, which supposedly is where the ultrasound was effective.  Dr. Mulhall's site mentioned the pump isn't really a good therapy since it brings "old blood" (not oxygenated) into the penis.  He stresses the importance of keeping a good oxygenated blood flow there, and quickly, after PCa treatment, explaining the treatment with injections etc. to prevent irreversible atrophy.  Has anyone tried ultrasound treatment as therapy for ED?  Is it possible for lay people to buy the machinery and give it a shot?  If we're on to something here, we want patent rights!:-)

FrankTalk has members dealing with, getting through, and getting over ED. I think most are post PCa. Some of the talk is very frank, as it's intended to be. If you have a suggestion about a therapy, post it there. I know there are a couple of engineering types there that will comment:)
-Nov/Dec 07, March 08 and Dec 08: Severe perineum pain . Septra/Bactrim for 8 months for diagnosed prostatitis.
-PSA start of 2008: 5.3..... PSA June of 2008: 7.3
-14 DRE all benign or nothing felt
-TRUS Biopsy Nov 08: 5 of 8 cores positive GS 3+3 or 6. 30-65%. Perineural invasion.
-General Health: pretty good, 5' 10", 180 lbs, slim.
-Open RP surgery: May 09 both nerve bundles spared. Bilateral lymph node dissection performed. Discharged 48 hours after surgery.
-Post Surgery Pathology: pT3a N0 MX, extraprostatic extension (EPE), stage III prostate cancer, lymph nodes clear, seminal vesicles clear, Gleason upraded to 3+4 GS 7. EPE within surgical margins. Other than prostate and EPE, all tissue removed negative for cancer involvement.
-Bladder control within 48 hours of catheter removal
-ED ongoing but improving. ED oral meds didn't do much initially. TRIMIX was working very well. Initial dose of 0.1 mL too much. Had priapism at 0.075 mL that ended up in a humiliating ER visit. Doses recently after 50% dilution by Uro about 0.025 mL or less. Don't use Trimix anymore...I'm too sensitive to it, even at very low doses and the Alprostadil is pretty consistent in causing erection pain...had a few episodes of 3+ hour wood with pain.
-Levitra now starting to work at low doses of 5 mG to 10 mG. Sometimes the side effects like stuffy nose aren't fun...sometimes OK.
-Was supposed to see ED doc last week, but due to his schedule, will now be late August. Will discuss bimix with him.

Heck I have no idea it that would help or not but why not give it a try. Stranger things have been done.

I am probably one of the "engineering types" Mikey mentioned. I have most every kind of ultrasonic transducer known to man and the drive circuitry to run them. Anywhere from 0.01 Hz infrasonics (so you can talk to the elephants and whales) on up to 5 MHz (so you can tell if that lump is a boy or a girl.) I also have an adjustable TENS unit.
Some of the ultrasonic transducers are 50 kHz beasts that are powerful enough to fire an acoustic wave down to the ocean bottom and measure the reflectance.

If anyone wants to try plugging their privates into, or placing them adjacent to any device in my repertoire you are welcome. We'll experiment with hot dogs first. If they cook we can always eat them. (The hot dogs that is.)

Jeff sounds like we will need to investigate this on the GFMPH Gathering.

Jeff, you were foremost in my mind:) Remember though, we have very similar technology application backgrounds. Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't you primarily mechanical while I'm electrical engineering? What a promising combination! What a thought! Together, we could wreak awesome havoc in the muscle and limb artificial stimulation industry. Or, we could just have a beer and cook a couple hotdogs...

Bring your widgets to your meeting and happy weiner roast to you all. In the meantime, I'm going to find a vegetarian PT person (or non 50kHz user) who can give me some answers. And guys? No charge for the endorphins from the chuckle.

Mikey,
I actually have more of a Physics background but have the skills to build anything. Yes, Anything. I am not kidding when I mention microwaves or high energy, short wave UV or ... You'll see at GFMPH. I don't know how my wonderful, understanding, loving and tolerant wife puts up with me. I really do want to try the experiment of using an acoustic actuator to break up a clot in a catheter.

Jeff

For all the fiddling, super VED and electroshocking the only thing that works so far is Trimix - not to be confused with Triox or Trioxane (both of which I have in stock.)

Oh my,

Yes, it seems we both have wonderful understanding wives. When I rewired my VED for hyper-warp drive, I almost burned the garage down. She wasn't too mad. I still haven't found it. Last memory I have of my $200 VED was a glimpse of it flying over the neighbors fence with flames coming out. And the dog wouldn't come out from under my desk for two days.

You need to use at least 12 gauge wire when wiring anything for warp drive. I always have a lot of it on hand here.
If you recall last year I had enough so all attendees at GFMPH could make their own incontinence clamps as a sleep-away camp project. (Nobody took me up on the offer.)

Aimzee:  Talking to plants supposedly makes them grow.  I'm having some hysterical conversations in the bedroom but no response yet.  Don't think he's listening.

idea Hmm.  Maybe I can build my own widget.  I once fixed our vacuum cleaner...

I don't know how ultrasound would work but I do know that when the cell phone in my pocket set for vibrate goes off, it's almost better than sex ;p
