Hi guys an update on my dad's psa post radiation. Just to remind you guys and give you some background information. My dad's post op psa was a .55 in January 2010. He immediately began hormone therapy and did two months of radiation. After completing 40 sessions 72gy of radiation in June he was also given his last hormone injection, a 1 month depot of lupron.
He just checked his psa, 3 months after radiation and 3 months after a 1 month depot lupron and his psa came back at .07. I think I am happy, I hope I can be happy. His testosterone levels are back to normal, so I do believe that the lupron has worn off and that the radiation has worked. But I am not quite sure, do you guys still think this is not an accurate number since lupron could still be in his system??
Also an update on my dads pain, x-Rays came back COMPLETELY normal! Finally I feel like he has had a break from this, and I am so happy, I feel like he is a different person now :))))
Thank you guys for always being there and being so patient with me, it means alot!
Lynne

You should be happy turn His treatment has had the effect you were after and he has had a very good response. Let your hair down, relax and enjoy his success.

lynne,

that is very good news about your dad. you have reason to be happy and hopeful. are they going to do another psa in 3 months or so? if he pulls another <.10 like that next time as well, i think you can really begin to relax. good luck to him, and to his darling daughter,.

Hi Lynne-
Its been a while and just checking in with everyone. We have been thinking of your Dad, you and your family. This is fantastic news! Im so happy to hear. Peter is now officially a .02 and I feel that your dad is on the same course. I pray for that. Peter was told to stop the casedox and had his last lupron shot (for now) last week. All scans came back normal. We saw Dr. Myers on 9/7 and he was fantastic. He cost a pretty penny but sat with us for 2 hours and answered every single question Peter had. Did you guys meet with him as well? All my best!

Great news Lynne for all of you.

As I'm in the same position myself (but without having had the hormone therapy) all I reckon I can do is to note that two "<0.1" in a row will be even better news, but that it is worth making the most of this phase, even if the first thing you feel like doing might be sighing deeply and sitting down to relax rather than leaping in the air and drinking champagne. (You tend to spill champagne doing that anyway)

It's also altogether different talking to friends and family about a low PSA result.

All the best
