I am at around 4 weeks after prostate removal and wondering if anyone could give me a clue as to how long this scrotom pain should last. The pain is not constant just comes and goes. I have been watching what I do so I may be able to determine if there is something in particular that I am doing. I can't seem to determine the cause or maybe it is just part of the healing process. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!!

my friend,

a very, very normal complaint post surgery. my surgeon told me as much as 6 months to a year out of my open surgery, but by 6 months out, most of that pain had disapeared for me. know it sucks, but it will fade with time for you hopefully

Took a while for my scrotum pain to subside too. It was one of things I noticed more about a month after surgery when I tried to stop taking all pain meds (even tylenol/paracetamol) so I just carried on with one or two tablets for a while.

A prostatectomy is effectively a vasectomy as they snip the vas deferens too. The snip is just further up the tube at the end near the prostate rather than down in the scrotum, thus your testicles are no longer connected to much. And there is a cut pipe that I reckon may well be the source of some of the pain. My testicles also seemed to be able to move about a lot more in my scrotum in the first few weeks after surgery.
A nice snug pair of briefs that holds things in place seemed to help with me, but on the other hand if you've got a pad in you don't want the pad squashing things in the wrong way.

A lot of us have reported this pain and as far as I know nobody has reported that it has not gone away after time, it's just that as with everything it will take a different amount of time for all of us. But anything that is bad should get reported to a doctor.
