Well, I met with my uro this afternoon. Gave me another shot of caverject from a fresh bottle. Got a definite reaction and penis got semi hard (about 75% of erection pre RRP) However it didn't last long. Within 15 to 20 minutes willie was staring at the floor again with this sad look. My wife and I were both disappointed. Doc is going to set me up with Trimix now, and he commented that I would ultimately need an implant. One thing that I noticed right away was the deep and persistant aching inside. Man, did that hurt after a few minutes. It is still hurting three hours later....but not as bad.

Also got my first lupron shot. The injection wasn't as painful as the caverject needle. Doc said it would be a month or more before I would see any side effects.

In the meantime, I'll just keep pumping which is a frustration all of it's own.

Man,...the things guys will do for sex. I asked my wife if it was worth it.....she winked at me and said; "it is for me."

What can I say? Now....where did I put those pump batteries?

Well at least you got some reaction. I sure was hoping that you got a good zap. When does he want to try the Tri Mix.

His office uses a compounding company that supposedly makes them a good deal, and the pharmacy is supposed to contact me directly to arrange for shipment. I'll provide details as I learn them in case others might benefit.

So, I guess the answer to your question is "I don't know." But like F8 said, the sooner the better. I sure would like to get a little action in before the lupron sunami washes the "give a flip" out of me. Two years of lupron sure seems like a long time right about now. When I finish the lupron, I'll be 60.

<sigh>

I'm sorry F8. I know that is something we guys miss terribly when it's not possible. Has your doc told you how long it will take for the lupron to not affect you since you've taken your last shot? My doc says it could be anywhere from 6 months to 18 months before my Testosterone levels return to normal. How long have you taken the lupron shots?

Anyway, I do feel that sense of urgency you are referring to, and that's one of the things that causes me to experience great disappointment when the caverject fails.

I was surprised at how badly my penis ached from the shot. That was so painful that I could not have enjoyed sex anyway.

Oh well....I better get back to work. (I'm building a 16 x 32 deck)

Yep, that's the Caverject aching and pain we talk about. Alprostadil really does a number on most men, although there's a lucky few who aren't aaffected by it.

K - my wife turned 40 right before my DX and we had a very active sex life. i lost the ability to have sex maybe a month after my first lupron shot which i got in march. but my head was out of it around the beginning of the year because i had serious anxiety and i felt "diseased".  i really don't miss sex. in fact there is a certain freedom in having no sexual desire but i know it's not my natural state and it's hard on my wife.  my wife says even if we can never have "normal" sex again she'd be satisfied if i just had the desire.

after all the radiation i've had and reading all these doom and gloom posts about long term side effects of BT, IGRT and lupron i don't know where it's headed for me.  i got my last shot shot (3-month) a month ago.  before the shot i was just starting to have semi-erotic dreams.  i tried viagra twice around that time.  the first time i fell asleep and woke up  with a headache.  there was very, very slight swelling.  the next time all i got was a red face and a stuffed up head.

my doctor keeps telling me that i'll be the first to know when testosterone starts returning.  he thinks that will be about nine months after the last shot ... but possibly later.

i have no regrets about my treatment choices because an erection isn't going to do much for anyone if you're dead.  my hat's off to you for deciding on aggressive treatment.  i believe you're doing absolutely the right thing!

good luck to you.
