Hi all this is my first time on this forum or any other for that matter. Please let me know if i do anything wrong. I had a Radical Prostatectomy Da Vinci two years ago. The surgery went well I was out of hospital in three days My old fella was black and blue something like the colour of passion fruit and so were his mates one testicle grew twice its size. I wish I could say the same thing for my once main hobby he was an inch shorter and not willing to cooperate at all with my party plans. Anyway I then came down with a  urinary tract infection. It took me some time to get over that it knocked the stuffing out of me. Starting to feel a bit better and then got a very angry rash around the whole area of my once formidable hobby. At this piont in time i am leaking like a sieve. Not great at spelling! Went to a continance Physio did the whole pelvic floor exersices she tells me my pelvic floor is strong but after two years I am still leaking about 150 ml per day. My problem is if I have orgasm my leakage doubles up to 300 mls a day and takes me several weeks to recover. Has anyone else had this experience, my doctor tells me i need a artificial sphincter I am not sure what to do.

Welcome Fredy, sorry you have to be here, but this is a great place for support and info.............it might be helpful if you post your "stats" in your signature in the "Profile" section of the tabs. There are a number of guys here who have and are experiencing incontinence issues great and small and can advise you better than I can. Your signature will help the rest of us to more directly address your concerns.

Fredy.. do not dispair.  The truth is, your leaking may not get any better.  For some of us, that's just the way it is.  It looks as if you've done your best and finding a solution.  So did I and so did others (who probably will come on and add their response). Yes, please post your stats in your profile.  That will help us know how to respond.

One solution might...MIGHT... be the sling.  At your level of leakage, I doubt it.  Don't let anyone push you into that because I've not heard of anyone having success with the sling with your degree of leakage.  THE BEST solution, in my opinion, is the AMS 800 Artificial Urinary Sphincter.  I've had mine for 27 months.  It's not perfect.  I still dribble a little, but NOTHING compared to the way it was for the previous 18 months after my prostate removal surgery (I use a small panti-liner pad).

At the same time I received my AUS, I had implanted the AMS 700 CX Inflatable Penile Prosthesis (penile implant).  Both of these devices have enabled me to go on with a normal life, including sex with my wife as often as we desire.  Your shortened penis is just another fact of life after prostate removal.  Don't let this get you down.  It can still work.  Orgasms with this device is good, but you probably can expect to ejaculate urine.  I hated this at first, but we have learned to live with it (condom), and to be truthful, it's restored some of the wonderful feeling of semen pulsating through the urethra.
Hope this helps to encourage you from someone who's been there and done that.

Thanks Guys for your response Arnie your right this is a great sourse of information and support its fantastic to be able to talk to people who have been through the same experience. I had already done my signature but for some reason it is not coming up. I have no experience with Forums could somone help me with my signature. I notice some people have a signature attached to there post and others don't. My writing was coming up in red I think I have fixed that. Oh please excuse my weird sense of humor I find it helps sometimes to keep your sanity. I know what I am going through is minor compared to many other people but it can get you down sometimes.
Gene you are a braver man than me having both of those operations at once! How was your recovery was there a lot of pain involved.
I have heard there are a few things that can go wrong with the AUS and they have a limited life. You mentioned the Ams 800 are there different models? You all seem to have a lot of info re your surgery stats I dont have all that info. My Surgeon may have told me but I was very low afterwards for a month or so I cant remember.
Im in Australia we seem to be a bit behind in some areas of medicine. I have been trying to find out about the advance sling proceedure but not easy to info here. Thanks for your encouragement it helps to moll things over.

Hey Fredy........it's important for you to have the stats from your post surgical pathology report. Your surgeon should have that on record, and you should ask him for a copy. It contains valuable info to have as you go forward in your journey with PCa. Request that, and then fill in the pertinent info in your signature, which will help all of us better understand your overall picture.

Fredy, the risk of injections is, in my opinion, high.  One does not need an erect, but bent, penis.  Obviously you only received the two bends.  Ouch.

My very experienced implant surgeon (a reconstruction urologist-specialist) recommended both implants at the same time. He does lots of these things (make sure to find a very experienced surgeon if you proceed). Made sense to me.  Why go through two surgeries in the same location when one will do for both implants?  Made sense to me and I'm sure glad both implants are in place.  My recovery time before I could use the implants was about 5.5 weks.

Yes, there are a couple of more companies who make implants and AMS also makes an 800 LGX, in addition to the CX.  It seems most guys are getting the LGX but my surgeon still prefers the CX.  He says the only time he recommends the LGX is for guys with smaller penises than mine (brag, brag, brag, but I still miss the old length).  The LGX is supposed to expand a bit longer but it is not as rigid as the CX.  Also, the CX seems to increase the girth.  But because I had the prostate surgery, I did end up losing about 3/4 inches in length (removing the prostate, pulling the urethra together for re-attachment).

Yes, the AUS can/does wear out in time.  But all that is USUALLY needed (and according to my uro/surgeon) is a replacement of the cuff around the urethra.  But when mine begins leaking again to the degree it is not acceptalble, I'll hopefully have the cuff replaced, or whatever part is needed.  These implants are devices engineered & built by human & imperfect hands.  Our Creator does a much better job.

Be sure to do a search on AUS and penile implants.  You'll gain lots of information.

Thanks Gene I wasn't informed of these risks by my doctor I am pissed off at the lack of information I am gettingfrom the medical profession. You have to pump them for info and then you run out of time to have all your questions answered. I recently found out its important to start getting erections soon after surgery to ensure the best possible recovery of your erections. Apparently the structure of the Penis can change after a period of inactivity decreasing the ability of recovering erections. I had to read this on the internet!Suonds like you are doing ok thats great. Im happy for you having a larger than average size penis you lucky, now I would normaly say Bugger if I was talking to an Ausy. Mine was average and now I have lost an inch in length! Have you heard anything about vacume pumps I thought I might give one a try as a temperary measure just to get it happening down there.
