I visit this site frequently, but for the last week or so I've been repeatedly harassed by a "rollover ad" that takes over my screen with a message that begins, "Meet Dan Seals, Nancy Pelosi's star pupil."  This ad is present both at the top of the page and down the right side, and any inadvertent movement of the cursor triggers it.  If I try to go over to the right side to scroll the page, the ad will usually initiate itself.  If I move the cursor too close too the top of the page, the ad will initiate.  I'ts infuriating.  The ad apparenty is the product of the americanactionnetwork.org who does not return phone calls.  Does our moderator, or anyone associated with HW have any control over ads of this sort?  That this political group would impose themselves on a site like this, where cancer survivors or those newly diagnosed are trying to exchange information, is insensitive in the extreme.

Moderator, please feel free to delete this rant if it's inappropriate.  You won't hurt my feeling :)

The ad's are controlled by an ad partner that helps pay the bills at HW. For me the ad is for Sharon Angle against Harry Reid. So I think these ads are regional. I can't wait for the elections to be over. My junk mail piles are astounding. My TV is flooded with a bunch of stuff also. I can't believe how corrupt the process is anymore. I think if we taxed these ad's we could pay for a cure in just one election.

Hang in there, it's almost over...

The American Action Network is a far-right propaganda mill funded by the Koch Bros. former John Birch Society backers..

I too get these annoying pop-ups even though I have strong anti-pop-up software installed on my computer..So I suspect they may be paid ads on this site...Somebody has to pay to maintain this site...

BTW,
The ad partner is not an HW entity. They make the banners and ad's agnostic to whatever site they post on that they partner with. So while it is really inappropriate to be posting at a site like this, they are not targeting the site specifically. This is not a representation of HW in any way. Just a partner that places and sells ad space.

I use the Firefox browser with the add on ad blocker. Works a treat -- I see absolutely no ads on this page -- just searched from top to bottom.

Yes, I know the ads pay the bills, but I absolutely refuse to click on any ad, especially annoying ones. So HW loses nothing by my action. HW gains from my erudite presence here, as that attracts more casual visitors who do click on the ads idea

I'm not happy with ads that "take over" either. Often these are delivered through a network to network.... sometimes we can control them and sometimes we can't. I'll forward this complaint on though.

Thank you, Peter. The scroll over popups of these ad's is very annoying.

I'm not seeing any pop-ups with Firefox either, for what it's worth.
