Does anyone know the reason for weight gain with HT? I have been on ADT3 for 6 months now. I am been exersizing and watching my weight carefully. 5 months and no weight gain. Over the last month I have put on 7 lbs without any apparent change in diet or exersize. Is is physiological? I seem to be craving carbs. Perhaps I am introducing more into my diet without realizing it.

I don't think you can gain weight unless the calories are there to do it.. The HT has probably changed your metabolism, you are probably burning fewer calories now whether you realize it or not..I know it's tough, especially in the winter, but try to pick up the pace of the exercise a little. The lack of "T" says no, no, relax, sit down and watch TV. It takes a lot of will-power to overcome that....Or pick one item from your usual diet and eliminate it..Or do both..But once you pack it on, it's very hard to shed those extra pounds..

the typical weight gain is 10-15 lbs.  i've gained 25 in about eight months so if we combine or weight gains we are average cool .  i exercise as much as i can tolerate and that's 6-8 hours a week.  i weight train and do the bike.  my joints get so stiff that i walk around like fred sanford.  i can't exercise more so i am eating less.  i'm almost 2.5 months past what i hope was my last lupron shot so eventually the side effects will lessen and i can get serious about getting back to my normal weight.  i think you are doing very well so i'd try not to worry about it too much.
age: 55
PSA on 12/09: 6.8
no symptoms, no prostate enlargement
12/12 cores positive....gleason 3+4 = 7
received 3rd and last lupron shot 9/14/10

Weight gain from HT is most likely due to loss of strength from lowering of your testosterone level, and that in turns leads to a reduced level of activity and burning less calories. What you need to do is increase your activity level with walking, gym work, etc to burn more calories. I was told that strength training is especially important to counter the loss of strength so I try to do a mix of exercises for strength and aerobics.
