I must admit: I was very sceptical when my oncologist offered me as the next drug 0.1 mg (!) ethinyl estradiol (EE). Was this tiny amount going to work, and also, didn't somybody like Leibowitz for example use 1 mg EE instead ?
After just one month I can report that my PSA went down from about
30 down to 12.8, a more than 50% reduction. It does work !
A high dose of 1 mg EE seemed to cause always breast enlargement and have a risk of blood clots. So reducing the dosage by a factor 10 will certainly reduce its side effects a lot. I do get a 'baby-aspirin' though as well.
I use 2 tablets 0.05 mg Lynoral per day. Others are using estradiol patches successfully.
This reduction of the dosage resembles that with diethylstilbestrol (DES), which went from 5 mg in the past to 1 mg today, and maybe it should even become 0.5 mg. The problem with DES is that it is not available in continental Europe. I would very much like to lay my hands on DES, preferably before I will become EE-resistent. Maybe I should try to get it on-line from a Compounding Pharmacy in the USA ?
