All foods are genetically modifies as are all things in nature. As soon as you splice the DNA of a male with the DNA of a female the offspring are genetically modified. All species in existence at the moment are genetically modified decendants from the species from which they sprung. Ain't nature grand, genetically modifying all things constantly. If it were not for genetic modification we would not exist. I am wary of such statements as
"Soy -- GM soy is highly allergenic and accounts for about
90 percent of soybeans planted in the U.S. It is present in about
70 percent of all food products found in American supermarkets. Rats fed GM soy had increased mortality, lower birth weight, and damaged sperm and reproductive ability."
O.K. ------how much soy were the rats fed and for how long. The link between soy and estrogen is well established. Feed a male rat very high quantities of soy and of course it will affect its reproductive system.
Reminds me of the link between rats, aspartame and cancer and the follow on claim that aspartame therefore causes cancer in humans. Have you ever seen the quantity of aspartame they feed the rats to get that result?
Mind you this is an entirely different issue to the US and Monsanto attempting to force various countries to buy their products.
