I have kept somewhat in touch with Gordy/Les over the months since he went off the forum herein, he is dealing with serious level of PCa fighting. He had some recent issues and did not want to post and sent an email to me and Tony.  He said we could post this.

Tony/Bob-

At 3 AM on Saturday, March 5 I was rushed to local hospital with uncontrollable shaking.  I only remember waking up in emergency room.  After 3 days with WBC of 30,000 they finally came up with: pneumonia caused by tear in colon due to radiation for Pca.  The thinking is that fecal material traveled to my lung from the tear.  After 3 days they finally called in a surgeon who saw me at 10 AM one morning and said they had to operate immediately.  I was in operating room by 2 PM.  I now have colostomy.  I believe if it weren't for that surgeon and his partner, I wouldn't be here to write this.  So much for a local "Regional Medical Center".

If you feel my "story" could be of help to others, feel free to post it.  I don't want to have to keep responding to posts, nor do....t.  You two are the only ones I'm notifying.

Be well Guys.

-Les
(Gordy)

Keep Gordy in your hearts, minds and hope...I can or Tony can relay whom responded to this thread I think that would be a nice thing to do.  He is lucky he survived this set back as he stated.

zufus,

thanks for bringing this to my attention. i remember him well.

what a terrible story, makes me cringe, sorry he had to join the "ostomy" club. i know the feeling.

and his was from radiation damage too?

i wish him only the best in healing, and hope that he can recover from this horrible setback.

Thanks for beating me to the post. Gordy and I, in spite of what might be obvious to some, have maintained a close relationship and he has a special place in my heart. It's been a tough ride for him and he has one of the most unusual cases ~ advanced progression to organs with minimal PSA rise. Les has had chemotherapy and multiple trials in his plight. He had originally had an RP and radiation back in 2005. His complications with radiation exemplify that our journeys and therapies are likely to encounter side effects at some point whether they tell us about them or not.

I am saddened by these complications as he has already had a tough ride. My heart goes out to him and his cancer surviving wife Carol.

Ugh!

I hate this disease...

I so much hate to read this and the suffering from others where the tx. gets botched. But his radiation was in 2005? So is this a delayed reaction?

Also, is he in Michigan? The name of the place I am receiving SRT end in... Regional Medical Center.

He is in New Jersey...

He has spent a great deal of time at MD Anderson in Houston since his relapse...

Tony- perhaps you can compile peoples responses of support in some method and send it back to Gordy...not sure if he will visit the forum or not. Maybe we can send him a group card or electronic card and you could mention all the folks on the forum whom responded or ????

Other ideas?????

Tony/Zufus, good idea- a group card. Tell him I wish him the best- a fast and complete recovery from his current ills, a successful reversal of the colostomy, a stable or reversed PCa situation, and that his is missed here.

Sometimes during the day to day, we forget just how serious some of this is for those who have advanced and chronic conditions with difficult treatments they have to go thru, just to continue living.

That's a tough set back for Gordy. I hope his recovery from the op is quick and once he has healed, reversible, and he is back on deck continuing the fight against this disease. He is one tenacious tough son of a gun, that is for sure. My best wishes go to him for a speedy bounce back.

I too am very sorry to hear about Gordys condition and can only wish him a speedy recovery. Like Bill, I'm hoping that his operation is reversible.
All the best Gordy.

Les,
It's been a long time, far too long. I lurk here every so often and tonight saw your name - I was shocked and saddened to read about your circumstances. I hope you are doing better.
You have been a help to more guys than you would ever admit to. But I do believe you know this in your heart and I know it's true for me.
All the best to you and Carol,
Susan
