Now that its after midnight EST time, I can say it.  I have now been married for 37 years.  We had our first date on New Years Day, 1974, got engaged on Valentines Day, and married on April 6th.  So much for long courtships.  She has and always will be a wonderful wife, lover, best friend, excellent mother, excellent grandmother, and a fantastic and caring nurse.  If I had to do it all over again, wouldn't hesitate for even a single heartbeat.

She has been a voice of reason through all my medical ordeals, and a firm rock to give me hope.  We are in this together, and always have been.  That is my advice to any new friends here with PC, be sure to include your wife, spouse, etc in the process from the start, its better for both of you.

ed,

i was watching the same squall line come across TN, NC, then here in western SC. Wasn't too bad on our side of the border, but looked wicked on the doppler.

thanks

I was a little confused by your announcement after midnight.  Had to look at my calendar because our wedding anniversary is also April 6th, but I was sure it was on Wednesday!  Anyways, happy anniversary to you and your wife of 37 years. We will be married 20 years tomorrow.  Hope you two can have a wonderful day together.  Take a day off from this prostate cancer journey and do something enjoyable, invigorating and out of the ordinary.  You both deserve it!  (Now that I've given you that recommendation, I better get busy planning something enjoyable, invigorating and out of the ordinary!) yeah

happy anniversary to mrs. ex-fish - here's to another 20 years for you and yours....

I am not surprised at the mixup with dates, David - isn't marriage, whether sanctioned by the state or church, eternal... so all the days and years run together .... in a wonderful, loving, supportive blurr ....

(mind you, when I get too forgetful, Steve, reminds me he has our lawyer on telephone speed-dial - the benefit of pre-signed power of attorney... )

David and Peggy: happy anniversary hugs for tomorrow - and next year and next - I expect to bug you and Peggy on your 40th anniversary -

hugs,
BRONSON

p.s. Steve and I will be celebrating #15 this Boxing Day 2011 - Santa came a day late in 1996.

Happy Anniversary, David,
To you and your wife. By contrast, Ruthie and I are coming up on #15. We got a ways to go. I guess that goes with being here 24 years ahead of the median age for our disease.

Have a great night...

Tony

ex-fish, i was tired and with my wife's rotating shifts, i never know what day it is, didnt mean to confuse, was just excited about the fact. congrats on your 20th, gee, you guys are barely newly weds, lol.

bronson, i am happy for you and steve too. my wife was barely 18 when we married, and i had only been out of the service for 2 years, and those were hard economic times too in the mid 70s, at least in the US. most of our peers at the time gave our marriage 6 months at best, we sure made liars out of that pack.

tony, thanks, i hope you two will surpass our's one day, you got another 22 years just to catch up

thanks, edc

David,
You are a lucky man ol' mate. 37 years, half a lifetime. That's a great run and unfortunately becoming rarer these days. I'm a couple of years up on you and I often look at "her indoors" and wonder why I was so lucky to have snared her. Why she has put up with me for so long (I don't think I am the easiest person to live with) amazes me. Is it not marvelous how the years bring you closer and closer? The early attraction and love deepened by the bond of a lifetime of shared experiences (good and bad), the bond of children and then grandchildren. We all joke about lusting after fast cars and loose women but to have that long time bond is irreplaceable. May there be many more of them and my heartiest congratulations to you both.

billy, my friend, i agree with your sentiments about a long marriage/relationship equally with you.

today, while shopping with my youngest son (age 27), we almost banged heads lusting after the same beautiful girl walking in front of us at the wal-mart store. least we had equally good taste.

later, i pulled up to a new lamborghini gallado sports car in a parking lot, very rare animal here, in pearl yellow in colour, and i drooled and drooled until i looked foolish.

as long as i can still eye the pretty girls and lust for the fast cars, i still feel like i am living. that can't be a bad thing.

Happy anniversary, David.  I tried to send congratulations this morning, but the site problems kept me from being able to post.

Beth and I had our 40th in January and did the renewal of vows.  When we got to the line about "in sickness" I flashed back to all the wonderful help she has given me during the last year and maybe for the first time in my life realized just what that vow entailed.

I hope you and your wife do something special.  37 years together is quite an accomplishment.  And, as bumper stickers used to read when we got married:  Love a Nurse, P.R.N.
