Yet another weary traveler back home from Cajun GFMPH. 1678 miles round trip for me, I still got the road buzz 3 hours after arrival. Already miss the cracklin's, cracked jokes, good times, solemn moments, and feeling the sense of loss for having to leave the company of some mighty fine men. Others has written about
the brotherhood we all felt this weekend, but it's one of those things I think you just have to experience to understand. 15 strangers, except for shared stories and posts on an internet forum, instantly bonding as brothers upon meeting, lifelong friendships made, so many stories and experiences shared. If it were possible for every person on HW to meet like this, the small irritations, pettiness and distractions that seem so important to us when we are on the Forum would just melt away.
We'd all be in a circle, sucking crawfish parts, eating corn on the cob, red potato's, sausages and soaking up a few suds, our cares gone for a little while. We'd probably break into a spontaneous chorus of Kumbaya or some such. So here's to a weekend with new found friends-becoming lifetime brothers, I have many memories here with me now, pom margarita bags, show and tell, swap meets, Mike the Tiger and slave cabins, spanish moss, 375 year old live oaks, chameleons, gecko's, Sylvester, mud splattered 'vetts, boil splattered Yankees and cowboy hats, ice cold beers, mosquito's, boudin sausage, catheter bag tradition carried on, cajun po boys, instant brotherhood, true Southern style hosts, and yes, even a shed tear or two. Sad to leave it all, but very thankful for the opportunity to live it.
Jeff and Roger, merci. pour la bons moments, de gastronomie, de bons souvenirs (thanks for the good times, fine food, fond memories)...or maybe the translation is off and I am asking "wait a minute, my stomach aches, what did ya put on those fries?
