I just had a question about the erection pumps. My husband has been using one for the past several weeks for penal rehab. He also takes 3 small doses of viagra a week. He can not get any erections on his own but when the guy showed him how to use the pump he said he could use the rings that came with the pump so he could have an erection but no longer than a half hour. We have not tried these rings yet because he still has a small amount of incontinence. I was wondering if anyone has used these rings and if they work. I was just wondering how sex is for a woman after this surgery.

seems like you can make 30 min work for you for now.

There is also so much more he can do for you while he waits for the erections to come back as they were before.

I'm not an expert on the rings but I think many here have tried them and will advise.

Also, there is a good forum for that kind of stuff called

The rings are an essential part of the process as thay trap the blood in the penis which maintains the erection. I used the pump for 2 months with good success, although sometimes there was a loss of hardness, I just pumped it back up. My wife said she could not feel the rings however I was not as firm as prior to surgery. After 2 months I graduated to generic Viagara and 4 months later left the Viagara and went "au natural".
The pump may have helped in my penile rehab, I think it did, but have no proof. You should shave around the base of the penis to get a good seal and avoid that painful hair removal when you remove the ring.
I used the Osbon manual pump, cost around $150. Rings have the side effect of helping to stop urine leakage during sex, I leaked badly at the time but rarely during sex.
Good luck

Bought a pump shortly after my surgery and have used it successfully for intercourse. Of course you need the rings otherwise deflation quickly occurs after suction is reduced. I found two rings worked the best for me and there was some slight issues with them with deep penetration as they put some pressure on my wife bits.

My wife also stated that the added girth from the suction meant we had to go slow starting off so she wasn't stretched beyond what was comfortable.

Ditto on the shaving, makes life a whole lot easier. I would also add, go slow with the suction until you reach fully erect size. Too fast can cause some pain and can also suck other vital and painful bits into the tube. My uro also stated that a VED can cause peronies, I'm sure due to too rapid inflation. I'm 4 months post op and don't see any evidence of it so far. I'm also using injections of bimix for sex, working out well too.

I have been using the Osbon pump since December. The pump alone works great for rehab of the penis, by using the rings sex is possible with 100% of what he had prior to the surgery! The trick is not using too much ring...I would recommend starting witht the lightest constriction strength and seeing if that is enough and go up from there. Too much constriction can become uncomfortable.

As far as for you, I know my wife can feel the rings on me and is very sensitive to them, she does not like the feeling of them. I have moved to injections now for an erection hard enough for sex and use the pump only for rehab purposes. I hope to graduate to oral meds only soon, since using the injections I am responding nearly 50% to Viagra , was nothing prior to using the injections. is a process of steps, just go slow and figure each step out for you before jumping ahead to next one.
age 44 when diagnosed 45 now
RRP 9-28-10
gleason 3+3
pathology report clear
11-1-10 PSA 0.02
3 month 0.00
6 month 0.00
12-1-10 noctural erections, not very strong maybe 20% none prior to Osbon pump use
3-30-11 Trimix 1st injection works GREAT! and more nocturnals and even some spontanious erections plus responding a little bit now to oral meds!!! The trimix really started things going!
