With a little help from our friend, it’s time to start asking for blue again.

about this time last year, I sent a request to the White House asking President Obama to light the building blue in September as it goes pink every October for breast cancer. Try as we might in repeated ways, we did not see a single beam of blue last September. With prostate cancer being to men what breast cancer is towomen, I am flummoxed by not seeing a glimmer of equal time for us men. Now I understand there are other issues on the agenda, but surely there is someone on the staff who can ask the same person who is inserting pink lighting gels into the flood lights each October, to slip in a few blue gels a month earlier. In these budget austere times, I am even willing to pay for the colored sheets out of my own pocket if it will achieve the desired effect. I’ll even volunteer to install them if needed!

This year, we have help a little help from our friends. Malecare, a member of the Prostate Cancer Roundtable, has designed an electronic petition you can sign, asking for a blue White House this year. You can help us raise awareness and make a big difference for the millions of American men and their families who are battling this disease by signing the petition at www.lightthewhitehouseblue.org. Once you have done it, please forward the link to a friend and ask them to do the same.

It’s a simple and easy way to support the cause and honor those men to whom you might wish to pay tribute. Thank you.

I suggest we all share the petition web address with our email lists and our Facebook friends.  That's what I call a "force multiplier."

^Bump to the top^

EDIT: Google->Light the White House Blue  and see all the articles and Facebook pages etc...

Apparently Blue is a favorite color. The  World Autism Awareness Day is doing the same thing...
