Had a psa test November 2010 in a physical with my intern. Came back <.1. My uro test in April 2011 came back 1.0. Went back to my intern for advice. He retested in April 15th came back .16. Any thoughts?

Well given that you have been <0.1 for 5 years then get a 1 and now a latest result of 0.16, somebody somewhere really ballsed up your first April test. I would be wary of any result from that lab. If the last one at 0.16 came from them then I would want it verified by a completely different facility. I always have my request marked "progress post-prostatectomy" so the lab tech realizes why a result he gets may be very low and is not just a run of the mill PSA request. It is astonishing that many people in these positions do not realize the meaning of a < symbol nor the significance of a decimal point.

Makes me think twice about going on testosterone for low T with a low grade cancer, I know you didn't do that but my stats are similar to yours. I was thinking about that since I am sick of being depressed and lethargic for almost 3 years now though.
My age= 52 when this all happened.
DRE=negative,
PSA went from 1.9 to 2.85 in one year, biopsy ordered,
Second biopsy on 08/14/08 found 2/12 cores positive for CA on R side, 1 core=5%CA, other core=25% CA, Gleason score= 6 both cores,
Bilateral nerve sparing robotic surgery on 09/11/08, pathological stage T2A,
No signs of spread, organ confined,
6 0's in a row, still use trimix for ED

Can I assume that your GP and your Uro use different labs? I believe strongly in always using the same lab for consistency sake. With one exception, I have used the same lab since my original PSA test was taken 8 years ago. I would re-test at the lab that showed the .16 reading, and see what you get this time. It's possible you are seeing evidence of early recurrance, and its important to know if you do indeed have a rising trend. Good luck.

Did you get printed copies of each test result? We have seen instances posted here where results read over the phone had decimals misplaced and less-than signs dropped.

Hoping all the 1's are on the right side of the decimal -
