I am not there yet, but if I get there:

I teach and enjoy what I do. Would the SE be likely to prevent my doing that?

I have this image of suddenly breaking down in tears in front of the class, or being irritable and nasty to my students.

Is this LIKELY??

I would hate to retire due solely to the enjoyment factor, but if I had to retire the regrets would be tempered by the fact that 've had a good long career!

Mel, I've been on Lupron since november, and I have not experienced any Significant change of personality. (according to my wife). She also commented that we get along better.
However I have not experienced any tendency to cry. I have had episodes of depression, however I'm not sure that has anything to do with the Lupron.

The most significant side effect has been the hot flashes. The hot flashes have been noticeably worse at bedtime.
I have also noticed that I have less stamina when working out. Since I have just finished building our retirement home, I have been doing a lot of landscape projects such as 4' high retaining walls which has involved a lot of manual labor. Since I have started these projects, I have noticed that I have to sit down and rest more often.

But, For the most part, I'm handling the Lupron okay.......for now. I hope it doesn't get any worse.

Mel, been on Lupron since 11/10.  Only thing that bothers me are the hot flushes, more prevalent at night and loss of libido.   Mayo doc gave me a rx to counter flushes and it works fairly well.  I still work outside, work part time at the university and go to the gym daily.  The only time I cried was on 12 April when I had to send the IRS a big check for taxes.
