I had an apparent catheter wound that cause me a lot of penis pain and bleeding.
I bled for 8 weeks (and took supplements to try to stop bleeding.)
The pain was severe at first and woke me in the night.
I also had pain maybe 8 hours before a bowel movement.
The pain slowly got better.
I also had a little itching, apparently as the wound healed.
14 weeks after catheter removal I have mild twinges occasionally. Its a lot better than it was.
I did not press the issue with the urologist much because I thought a scope might re-injure the wound. (I have some anxiety issues.)

Maybe for legal reasons the urologist did not confirm that I had a catheter wound. He did say he thought the pain would go away by the 6 month mark. He gave me a prescription for Vesicare to relax the bladder. He thought a tense bladder contributed to pain. Anyways I'm urinating less often and the pain is about gone now.
Hope yours fades away.
(I had cryo [freezing] surgery.)

3+4,

I had a similar issue, and my surgery was a few weeks earlier than yours.

My GP explained that there are fibers than run thru the urethra thru the penis, connecting the sides of what we all presume to be a perfect tube. When a catheter is installed and removed, these fibers are torn and can cause intermittent pain.

I'll repeat the (funny?) story my GP told. As a former Army and Marine physician, he has seen his fair share of STD's. Some poor young, and large man comes in with an obvious case of the clap. The diagnosis involves the insertion of a q-tip about 1.5 inches into the penis (for a culture). Well, the procedure rips one or more of these fibers, and when torn, these fibers can bleed pretty good. The guy sees his own little general spouting blood, and passes out cold, right on top of the doc. Said doc has to grab his patients penis to slow the blood flow, call for his nurse and explain why he has a bloody penis in his hand and an unconscious soldier on his back.
