Do you know of any known relationship or a research of this?
(I'm looking for a connection between the two, like G7-> PSA elevation of 2 each year or so...)

Thanks in advance!

I've looked at a lot of PSAV and PSADT research and have not seen anything specifically along the lines you mentioned. PSA velocity is very meaningful in some situations but the meaning depends on the baseline. Obviously a move from 20 to 22 in 6 months is very different from a move of 3 to 5 in six months. After primary treatment by RP or radiation, PSA DT is more relevant that PSAV.

There is a definate relationship between Gleason, psa and tumor size and there are formulas for each gleason grade and the psa generated per cc of tumor.
PSADT reflects how fast the tumor is growing, a PSADT of two years means the tumor is doubling in size every two years without regard to it's gleason grade.

66 years old, rising psa for 10 years from 4 to 40; 12 biopsies and MRIS all negative. Oct 2009 DXed with G6 <5%. Color Doppler biopsy found 2.5 cm G4+3. Combidex clear. Seeds and IMRT, 4 weeks of urinary frequency and urgency; no side affects since then. 2 years of psa's all at 0.1.

Higher Gleason may actually produce less PSA, such as a 9 or 10, so one could actually see an inverse relationship. The higher the Gleason, the lower the velocity.

It's not necessary to get snippy, guys. There may be a good reason why you are having a one-ended conversation. :-) Maybe he posts questions and waits a week or more to come back and see how many answers he got? We don't know... :-)

Hey guys,

zufus, I didn't know that I need to reply to other threads when I ask a new question. sorry.. I didn't see your email, maybe because of many SPAM I receive. Will look for it.

Since my diagnose, I'm reading all the time on the net, searching with Google and doing whatever I can to help myself.

I'm fighting the only 2 hospitals in my country - Israel - that are doing an Endorectal MRI. Now I'm in trouble because I don't know what to do:
- Surgery now, without MRI, and hope for good
- Wait (don't know how long, maybe half a year) to MRI, and then decide what to do (surgery or hormons)

Thank you all for your other responses! Really helped me !!!!!
You are really good people, and I sincerely thank you.
